Gosh.... I need to move to Korea :)
This reminds me of an ad campaign the ministry of tourism did in Japan, they just put Cha Eunwoo's face on the board and it actually got Japanese people to come to Korea!! :laugh2: FYI the ad board:

They are indeed impressive, and we need more beautiful men in our sport too!
FS has ice dancers? So, so, so many delightful visages in the ID field? And also my darling's there? I think FS doesn't lack for men with fair looks?

Your darling is definitely cream of the competitive crop now my darling has gone professional (be fair, as I said I have spent much of today watching my new DVDs so I am looking around with dazzle-coloured glasses) and oh dear we have gotten off topic now!:ot:

Are we going to have crappy sound all season? It sounds like the recording is a little on slowmo too... which dulls things. But they are as cute as buttons.
We might. Ted & Mark answered a question about the dreadful sound last week in Riga, and they said they had to use sound input from the cameras because there are still negotiations about music licensing going on. It is better than no music at all.

About this Retro Mashup RD season, I think we should give an award at the end of the season called The I Got The Assignment award.

  • Both team members have decade appropriate costumes
  • Their music fits with the costumes and era and the concept of being at a dance party.
  • The dance movements include some recognizable to era.
  • ISU Score is irrelevant.

This week started with with three couples who Got The Assignment!!

We started with the Finns, (Laine & Reina) who were definitely 1950's, even before the music started- - the circular skirt and prim little shirts, the belt, the polka dots, the pony tail, the headscarf. Think the dance scene in Back to the Future I if you don't remember the '50's. The music was correct, they included recognizable bop movements! Bravo!

Then we had the 1960's! The Japanese (Yamashita & Nagata) in wet look psychedelic costumes, skating to the Doors! Dancing at parties was kind of free form then  Very good!

Then Disco 1970's with the BeeGees and the Hungarians Szilagyi & Jaracs. Satin v neck shirt on Jaracs with those great fake bell bottoms! That one strap blue top on Szilagyi is right out of Blondie!

Bravo kids, for Getting The Assignment!

I was impressed with Yamashita/Nagata, finally they get their chance to shine on the JGP circuit!

Really enjoyed Fradji/Fourneaux dancing the YMCA :hap10: kudos to the Swiss team who got 4 Ys in the first set of key points!

I'm probably in a minority but I didn't like the way that Tsarevski split from his previous partner...Flores was preparing for nationals and then heard nothing, she wasn't able to end juniors on a high note. It's a surprise to see him back in JGPs.

@Ichatdelune I checked with my fencing relative about the Korean skaters and she definitely knows them, followed the Koreans all through the Olympics and said they were absolutely wonderful (waxed lyrical about footwork and other things I didn't understand): the juniors in their little fencing club here were also encouraged to watch your men.

Aww it's lovely to hear that my fencing crush and other fencers are hopefully going to be an influence on young ones about 7,000 km away 🥰🥰 (I'm assuming that your fencing relative's club is also focused on sabre? Our foil is basically dead at this point in time and epee has only been alive through the women after Park Sangyoung retired so)

The club is small so do all three, she loves sabre best but some of the other prefer foil or epee so she works on all three. She's a veteran (she only started when she was fifty-off and I think going to that first meeting was soooo brave) but loves it.
