Adopted Kaoruko before anyone else could snatch her

I love how she wins here at her first JGP after JSF took away her assignment last season. It's like she's giving a big middle finger to JSF :laugh2:
Didn't she WD?

She got a medal in Japan some weeks ago, she was clean or near to
When? 🤔 She didn't do well in the Free at Kinoshita Trophy or Gensan Summer Cup and at the West Japan Middle & Elementary School Championships she popped the 3Lo and had a few rotation calls.

Rena 😭 well, she's only 14, so this is a good time to struggle if she's going to. Hopefully she'll get it together for nats and still make the world's team
but wow, Stefania and Elina both have the chance to make jgpf!

I don't find the thread, very strange, maybe it was removed? But I remember very clear she got the bronze medal behind Rena Uezono and Ikura Kushida and above Mei Okada with a score of 121 in the free and like 61 in the sp

Rena is growing, she was doing perfect in the summer shows and first regional competitions and sudenly she began to struggle with her jumps but she looks very tall compared to last year so it's reasonable, she has to adapt to her body changes

A few opinions I have in regards to the Japanese girls~

Watching Rena's summer competition performances it looked to me like she might be in the process of adjusting to growing taller and longer which could be affecting her jumps

As far as Kaoruko's FS inconsistency, I blame this on years of being harshly yet justifiably penalized for under-rotations
With her gorgeous basics and its limited number of jumps she's usually able to score decently well in a SP
However, during the FS she often seems to put way too much effort into rotating her jumps compromising her technique and consistency
In most cases jump rotation can be worked on and improved and Kaoruko with the help of her team seem to be doing their best to overcome this issue
For now, as she did today, if Kaoruko focuses on just skating her best, highlighting her high quality elements rather than concentrating so much on jumps, she's more than capable of delivering clean(ish) performances.

Another plus point is that, now the Yamada team is having a new jumping coach (Soshi Tanaka, the coach sat at K&C with Kaoruko), she'll be able to get a more balanced development. Like I said somewhere else, I worried more about Rena. Hopefully it's just temporary and she'll get through the adjustment soon.

Does anyone know what happened to the ISU stream of the free skate?
It had been there. There must have been a copyright claim. If you look under 'Videos' rather than 'Live', the individual skates are there. If you watch them in start order you can get close to what the stream would have been like. It's just a bit of a nuisance needing to go back to the list after each skate. Whichever programme caused the copyright strike will probably be missing from the individual videos. The same thing happened with the men's short.

Wada:She flew out of that sinking ship flawlessly. We can call it a perfect skate.Dress is magnificent.Jumps are on point with a lot of height. That 2A?The most beatiful one.Slowing when music slows and speeding when it's needed.Elegant and perfectly fit programs for her.Real competitor in JGP shows up.

Gladki:Those jumps again.Crazy good.I'm not conviced with spins.but jumps are super impressive.

Yujae:3A easily like that?Holy.Majestic black swan on the ice.Keeping her elegancy in both programs really well.

Uezono:I don't know tbh about music choice. It's super difficult skate to this kind of music.Even tho she already show how mature she is,it may be overstep a bit. Those falls cost her podium, but hope she can try to work with this and comeback stronger.

Josephine:Nearly buyed me already after choosing this materpiece to skate.Interesting intepretation.Sadly those jumps are not it.Lot to work on.
