2024 NHK Trophy Pairs Free Skate

About 80 minutes to enjoy peace before the thoughts of AWG and worry for my girls start...

time for me to get to bed! I'll miss the men and women, but hope to see some of next weekend's competitons.

I have a wedding to attend, so I'll be missing some of the events.

Yeah the pair spin did cost them the title... I mean I can't complain that Metelkina/Berulava won the competition when they had all the tech, but...
I agree... it was probably fair, but I definitely wanted RikuRyu to win, and I really want Anastasiia and Luka to figure out how to have packaging that doesn't make me feel like they spun a dartboard for music, choreography, and concept, and then bought their costumes at Party City

WHAT is with the towels????
Are you asking about the banner towels skaters/teams are holding in the KnC with their names on it and the fans are holding in the audience?
If so, those are used to support and cheer for the skaters
It's a trend that has been popular in Japan for a while now
I think it started with the Men first maybe Shoma? then popular teams like RikuRyu and KanaDai
Some of the Japanese Women now have official banner towels as well (Rinka and Wakaba)

I respect the Georgians technical skills but the overall performance lacks musicality and finesse. And the hood thing at the end is ridiculous. I don't hate the podium order but their second score was way too high.
I agree.

Georgian....there is absolutely nothing Georgian in them.
That's not true - Luka was born to Georgian parents (who only moved because of the war) and grew up speaking Georgian at home

the Georgian figure skaters now become the Persian greatest figure skaters
of all time...

There are approximately 14 languages spoken in Georgia with Georgian as the most popular language. Other common languages include Mingrelian, Russian, Assyrian, Svan, English and Urum among other languages. Georgian is the official and primary language of Georgia.

The other race in GAbkhaz, also known as Abkhazian is a Northwest Caucasian language most closely related to Abaza. It is spoken mostly by the Abkhaz people. It is one of the official languages of Abkhazia,
where around 190,000 people speak it.

the Georgian government and nearly all United Nations member states consider Abkhazia sovereign territory of Georgia

Thank you. I am glad to hear that Luka actually has Georgian roots.

There is another Georgian thing that Luka has - the judge 2, Salome Chigogidze.

The lady who has already been suspended for showcasing national bias.

And also Mr. Kliushnikov, a Soviet judge, who is past-retirement age and so happens to represent Azerbaijan right now. His bias is of course not national, because there are no Azeri skaters except the imported ones. But we all know what country he is based towards.

Regardless of this, I would say that this team skated exceptionally well throughout this competition, while others faltered.

I don’t particularly care for their music, styling, or programs this year either, but fair is fair!
