The 2026 Skate Ontario Junior and Senior Sectional Championships is a qualifying event for the 2025-2026 Skate Canada Challenge.
It will be held in Rockland from November 6 to November 9, 2025. This event is sanctioned by Skate Canada and in accordance with Skate Canada Competitive Rules.

Registration opens on October 21st and closes on October 23rd. Entries will come then.

(Streams are not free in Ontario if I recall correctly)

Registration won't open until after Skate Ontario October, they do have a schedule up though - https://skateontario.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SSnov-Schedule-for-post-1.pdf

I should be fine for watching Senior Men and Senior Women on Thursday and Friday. Sorry Junior Men.

Based on the numbers for practice, entries should be 6 Junior Ice Dance, 17 Senior Women, 14 Junior Men and 21 Junior Women and 0 Senior Pairs. Senior Women may include Breken Brezden as a guest.

A list of athletes who have attained the QMS for Challenge has been published - https://skateontario.org/wp-content...MS-Tracking-Challenge-and-Trophy-Oct-21-1.pdf

For Junior/Senior, the scores are automatically tracked as of this season. Ting-Yun Cheng from Taiwan is listed even though she competed internationally earlier this month. Registration closes Thursday, hopefully the entries will be up quickly 🤞

It is handy for reference for who needs the minimums at sectionals, especially with the amount of spots that Ontario has. I was trying to work that out, I'll work out the other sections.

Also no Bombardier/Mimar here when the athletes with byes are listed. They aren't on the Quebec bye list either.

Minsol is on the list. Does this indicate that she's going to Sectional Championship and Challenge?

Quebec doesn't always list medical byes.

I have no idea. I was going to take this to the Canadian thread when I noticed Cheng on the list. That's why I added that the scores were automatically tracked, I can't use it as confirmation of a country change for that reason.

Registration closes tonight, hopefully entries will be up tomorrow 🤞

If I am not wrong, that would indeed indicate that Minsol will represent Canada as these events are qualifiers for Nationals.
I am saying, if I am not wrong because I believe that guests can compete in the summer/fall non-qualifying events but not the sectional/challenger/national competitions.

Maybe @saine can chime in?

They should have a bye to Nationals on the basis of their Cup of China assignment, even if they withdrew.

Quebec listed that they expected 4 teams at Challenge and their numbers included the teams with byes to Nationals. Last year's entry list had Ariano Kent/Laliberte-Laurent even though they didn't compete until Nationals. Bombardier/Mimar would still need to register if they're representing Quebec.

So you think they are just out of commission for the whole year ? That's a pity.

Ontario switched from having Juniors/Seniors register to have their scores tracked at August and October to automatically tracking this season. That's why Minsol is on the list, along with Ting-Yun Cheng from Taiwan.

That being said, Yoshida/Morita did not have their score from August tracked (along with the other international IAM Ontario teams). They also added some skaters who haven't competed yet like Misha Mogilen and Maya Isabelle. So it isn't proof that she is switching and it isn't proof that she isn't switching.

so the proof will come or not, with the entries.

Exactly, that'll be me refreshing every five minutes to see if they're up tomorrow.
Did you get any answers from refreshing the page every five minutes?

I would be over the moon with Minsol competing for 🇨🇦 (I called it 😜). I just thought she’d have to wait one more season. Her senior season debut internationally

I just checked. There's nothing yet I can find. Probably will be available Monday

Also, poor Bombardier/Mimar. They worked so hard to earn a Senior GP.
I wonder if they are injured, split up, or retired 🤔

well.. I think they are representing Quebec now. They have a bye to Nationals with their GP event. Usually teams must register, even those with byes... so it's either one of these 4 things

1) they are really injured and are not planning to get back this season in time
2) they have split ( I would be surprised about that one because usually, we find out)
3) they have their bye and it's all good but they are not appearing on the registration list from Quebec
4) they forgot to register because they have a bye and will appear later on some bye/entry lists ;).

Start orders - https://skateontario.org/results/26NOVROCCHAMPS/

Breken Brezden is competing as a guest, along with Robinson/Portz. No Senior Pairs, they aren't listing the skaters with byes.

I was wondering if Maya Isabelle or Mikhail Mogilen would compete since they were listed in the QMS sheet, but they aren't on the start orders.

I also messed up when scheduling my dental appointment and will be missing the Senior Rhythm Dance.

And no Rui Qin in Junior Men, hopefully he'll make it to Challenge.

Interesting that both new Senior IAMO teams (Hancock/Dotzert & Bashynska/Perron) are missing 🤔
Hancock/Dotzert are there, they're with Kitchener-Waterloo.

Bashynska/Perron, I don't think they had November sectionals in their plan. They talked about October Sectional Series, Challenge and Nationals as the competitions they would be doing this season. They did compete at Coupe d'Automne over the weekend, with a score of 163.12 (60.78/102.34)
