Niina was impressive. She put it together. It is sad Loena wasn't there. Italy looks stronger and stronger for the team. Not as strong as the US for team but with two ladies dooiing well here - not memorable but well. Some consisteny. Women's is as open as it has ever been for medals. Japan oould sweep. USA could sweep. Several European ladies cold podium Korea could do it.

Petrokina's jumps were better than Pinzaronne, but they judged them differently. Pinzaronne's first two jump elements where she got three q's were no different to Petrokina's landings especially from the 3F (4th element onwards), but even the opening combo was a problem for Petrokina

This is Petrokina's 2A in the opening combo. The agenda was quite clear for each skater. I'll go through the rest when I have time. It's fortunate for Pinzaronne that Kimmy had a disaster skate otherwise she would have been off the podium through no fault of her own.

The intial combo is not a good example if you want to pick Nina’s scores. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As per criteria, you first decide starting GOE: she had both good height and length, even on the second jump; good flow/rhythm; matched the music and good body position. Therefore she was starting the assessment from GOE +4 or +5.

Then deductions: the pre rotation on the takeoff was less than a q -> does not qualify for a deduction; landing had less than a q missing -> -1 deduction. Let’s be over generous with deductions and qualify. a flat edge as “wrong edge” on landing -> that’s still just another -1.

Panel gave her +2/+3 GOE (the one +4 was thrown out as the highest). This is exactly the right evaluation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and BTW, never mind still shots, panel is NOT ALLOWED to view video in slo mo to determine prerotation, just regular speed. Slo-mo is allowed for flutz edge calls.
