Yuma delivered good jumps but surprisingly had some troubles with spins.

It;s going to help him in the end because he will train for this to not happen.

no his spins are normally very good but he's trying some new positions out this season, namely the one-handed upright camel, and I think he just overcooked his spins because he was so excited about skating clean

I love Yuma, maybe my favorite skater. Just reacting to my take on his skate/spins in real time this morning. It is still early in the season. Yuma still has lots to show us I am sure.

Loved Jun's skate even with a wobble on 3Lz3Lo. I am so happy to see more skaters going for it again this season. It's the prettiest 3-3 combo.

Yeah, not great from Rizzo. Unless he does really great in Nationals, it's going to be Memola for Team Italy.

Hopefully, the judges will be more generous to Sato in the free, because PCS multiplier is not in his favor there.

At this point, I am all for the idea of the US giving up the 3rd man spot, so that Japan can send 4 of their women to the Olympics.

Great skate from Shun! Some silly mistakes from Yuma, love this program for him, Cha is looking better and better. Given what was put out on the ice I would have had Shun in first.

Me as well, but rep scoring. Sato's one hope was a lead in the free, because components favor Kagiyama a big time. But Sato has the Olympic spot for sure.

At this point, I am all for the idea of the US giving up the 3rd man spot, so that Japan can send 4 of their women to the Olympics.

Yeah, that's not how it works, and tbh Japanese have barely three women to send to Olympics who don't bomb programs. They are only good because the rest is even worse atm. And if some of them feel like national competition is too hard they can always sit out and switch to Singapore or Philipnes or something.

I realize that’s not how it works, but I’m saying I wouldn’t have a problem if it was allowed. I have similar feelings about gymnastics. I would much rather see the very best in the world compete against one another rather than the 2/3 athletes per country rules that are in place for nations with less depth in disciplines to have “fair play” reasons. I would rather see both Selevko brothers for Estonia at the Olympics than a 3rd US man.

That's what GP circuit is for. 3 spots tops per country is to make sure that yes, they can take the full podium but they can't stiffle all other countries in the competitions that are strictly fought by country. Winning three spots for your country and your discipline is a great achievement for any team, and throwing it so willy nilly because you like some other discipline and some other country is a belittlment of the skaters who did their best to achieve high placement in honest competition. This is neither courteous, nor fair, nor decent. Maybe the thrid spot for current American men is aspirational at this point of time, but they have EARNED it. That gives these countries an incentive to grow the sport and to support their athletes, and for the athletes to strive. And my memory is not that short as not to remember how everyone was excited about Torgashev skating clean. There is enough erasure and exclusion right now to take out an American man.
