This should have been well above 80, fantastic skate, but the tech panel is extremely stingy today.

I got one wish - Carreira & Ponomarenko skating to 100% Pure Love.
They seem a bit off today. they looked sharper and more together on practice.
I thought they were going to really rock after watching practice - a bit out of sync at times.

Hiring Gabby for US-based commentating to talk up Chock/Bates while her former partner returns to skate for the same OGM is a thing.

I prefer JLB as a dance commentator as he excels at explaining technique with skill and zero condescention. (Not implying that Gabby is, just meaning this in general terms. JLB coaches and choreography so he is able to articulate visual explanations very well.)

F-B/C are not even here though and I haven’t heard her badmouth them, so not sure why anyone would have a problem with her commentating this event.

AI strikes again...

I have mixed feelings. It’s kind of blasphemous to modify music this way. Sure DJs do it but that’s different, and they’re artists in their own right who have some respect and skill.

I’ve already been annoyed by skaters who will eliminate or repeat a key element of an amazing piece of music that just messes up the flow of the song or its crescendo. For no reason except length or choreography? But it’s like skaters and their teams are NOT musicians or DJs, and need to let the pros do it.

On the other hand, we could avoid 100 more Unchained Melodies and other extreme program repetition. Also, maybe in the future NBC could again allow programs to be available for replay indefinitely.

Since 1) all the media conglomerates are in cahoots, 2) this is really about streaming of content, and 3) the skaters mostly seem to want to pick from a small pool of the same music anyway…. It’d be cool if they could do a YouTube TikTok type music rights arrangement to deal with the copyright issue.

Christina and Anthony haven't looked comfortable in this rhythm dance all season, they just look stiff in the knees, that pattern step was soooo flat, and they were hesitant again on the rotational lift. Their free dance is so much better skating-wise, they look like a completely different team in that segment. I think this material is strong, but they have just been struggling to execute the technical content throughout the season.

Also, who angered the technical caller? I've literally never seen so many level 1s and PStBs at a GP event.

I'm not a huge fan of CPon but I think their team nailed the music choice this time. After "ole ole ole" this program looked quite sophisticated and sensual. But the TES is significantly lower.

It's clear that LaLa have been assigned to the two events with tough scoring... and which will eliminate them if there are score tie-breakers.

C/P’s skating is heavy. They don’t look at ease when skating and don’t have the speed of other top teams.

Not a problem, just a recognition of strategy. Bock and USFS want an OGM. Creating a narrative around that goal is smart politicking.

I like to think the skaters are too classy to trash each other, but NBC...

Gabby commentated on NBC previous to this season. I don't have Peacock currently, but I remember having trouble hearing her voice.

Which is a problem when other events were very generous, and there's a good chance total score tiebreakers will come into things for the GPF.
