2025 Skate Canada Rhythm Dance

In other news my preds feel in line with the results other than 4th place where I am doomed
onto the chaos category of men

not true.

Canadian Nationals, 2011.

Champions, Crone/Poirier
Silver. Weaver/Poje

Canadian Nationals 2010 and 2009
Virtue-Moir
Crone/Poirier
Weaver/Poje

2010 was especially important as Canada only had two spots for the home games... meaning Weaver-Poje didn't qualify (no idea if she had her citizenship already or not... probably not)
Gilles and Poirier were also the silver medalists at the 2018 Canadian Nationals ahead of Weaver and Poje after they had a fall in the RD.

Well.. I will be the one to say it.

I disagree that Saulius's Too sexy is the best RD vs Paul's Too sexy

There are a lot of fun things in Piper and Paul's dance, including the "runway indications"

I like Alison and Saulius here but I think the Ru Paul + Right said Fred is a stronger and quirkier concept. It's much more fun than a deep V Neck

I think she did, but didn't make the games. In 2014 it was the same story in reverse: Piper had just got citizenship, but was edged out of the games by Weaver/Poje.

And in 2018, Lubov got her citizenship in time for the Olympics but didn't get to go (in pairs) because of a poor skate at Nationals associated with Dylan having a major injuries when a sliding door fell on him.

All of these duos were in the situation of "pair up after one Olympics, get Canadian citizenship in time for the following Olys." And fail to make the team (just just the once for W/P and G/P).

I think P & P suffered a little bit because the Lithuanians skated so well to the same music before them. They had the whole package today except for a little loss of speed compared to the first team. Their overall aura won the day despite the music not going with their costumes. I did love what they wore but trying to figure out its relationship to the music. nit pic, I know.
I actually think the costumes do connect beautifully with the music. The idea behind “Supermodel (You Better Work)”was to channel that Runway Haute Couture energy : confident, luminous, and unapologetically stylish. The white, high-fashion look wasn’t meant to match the lyrics literally, but to capture the aura and attitude of the runway: elegance, empowerment, and pure presence. The song’s bold rhythm and empowering lyrics invite everyone to step into their spotlight : to walk, pose, and shine with unapologetic style.

Ahhh you lost me at "much more fun than a deep v neck" LOL

A really solid starting spot for Piper & Paul, this program has a lot of potential is definitely in its early-season form, it could definitely be a bit sharper and faster with some of the movements. The steps in between the twizzles are so hard, but it caused the second set to be a bit slow. I want to see a little more unique choreography in the pattern step, it felt a little empty right now. The rotational lift is stunning and there are a lot of really cool moments in the rhythm sequence.
Agreed. It felt to slow, and as well, I would say that it felt too careful. Paul is such a precise technician, but sometimes I feel like he skates with a 2x4 down his back, and a passionless smile pasted on his face while Piper is doing all the emoting. Paul needs to seriously loosen up for this program, because while his disconnected Vibe works for things like vincent, both sides now, and other programs, he needs to get into this and sell it more. The only short dance that I think they have ever really knocked it out of the park with was the one a few years ago during the season that Piper had to get surgery. Man, they were on the way to being world champions because, along with the great free dance that they normally have, they had by far the best Rhythm dance as well. Anyway, I feel that this year is shaping up to be similar to previous years in the sense that regardless of what happens in the free dance, they're going to lose it in the Rhythm dance so far the French team is looking like a lock for gold... if only Piper and Paul could put together two excellent programs in one year, I really think they could take the title, but this was pretty underwhelming.

So you are saying that FBC's vogue is better than Piper and Paul's ? I guess we have diverging opinions about this one.

That was sufficiently sassy :jump3:
Really? Paul was incredibly stiff. I got the typical Piper open mouth look which I suppose you could say is sassy, but Paul needs to channel some serious Scott Moir in this program if they want to ratchet it up to the next level. Scott had good posture and excellent skating skills as well, but that guy could move and sway, which is what Paul needs.

The scores certainly aren't saying it, but if I was Piper and Paul I'd do a music re-edit and switch out I'm Too Sexy to something that nobody else is using. It's not that it doesn't work for them, but hopefully, they will be skating towards the end of the teams in the RD and it would be better for them, I think, if the audience and judges hadn't already heard this song a few times when they hit the ice. Just my knee jerk reaction.

They now have the highest RD score in this season’s GP.
We have to consider that Fournier-Beaudry/Cizeron would have likely gotten either something around this or a bit higher if not for Cizeron's mistake, though. We'll have to see when both of these teams are not on their home turf.

they'd be most likely in second place
Yes, they got the second highest GOE on the other elements. The PCS are behind Reed/Ambrulevicius, but that could also be influenced by the mistake.
