2025 U.S. Nationals Senior Men's Short Program

At least your game is after the men's FS, instead of during :)

Fly Eagles Fly🦅 (I know in the DMV you might have residual love for the Commies, but go Bills too)
I never was able to get into them growing up cause they were bad for so long. So in 2017, I started gravitating towards the Bills. But I'm like "Good for the Commies."

I'll have a busy day tomorrow for sure. I'll have a chicken schnitzel ready.

Andrew was fabulous. So in charge and so solid. I do have to admit this is the first time I've really liked a Jimmy Ma program. He did a great job. And the only way I think anyone in the world is going to beat Ilia is if he screws up!!! Really a force to be reckoned with. All in all, the men were pretty good today.

Ilia - the class of the field. We have never seen a skater this good with jumps.

Andrew - So proud of him. He is the clear #2 American guy this season.

It will be a battle for third between Jimmy and Camden. Although, both probably will get to go to 4CC, if they maintain their spots.

Jacob - my favourite American guy. Thank god he did enough to stay in this final group.

Jason Brown - what was his issue? Equipment issues (more like too chicken to even try to compete). I know he placed solidly in the top ten, in the past two Worlds. But, I hate it when athletes use their popularity to secure spots that should be battled out. He hasn’t skated well this season. Something tells me he will nab the third spot even if Jimmy or Camden skate lights out in the free

Edit: Also happy for Samuel. He is like Sonya. I love seeing them at Nationals. I hope he holds on to top ten placement.

Ilia is making me a believer. That was magnificent.

Otherwise, I liked Camden the best.

What would really make me happy is if the ISU scrapped the long program altogether and had two equally weighted short programs instead.

Just a big sigh from me, that the judges continue to give high PCS just because the tech is high. Ilia is a great jumper, that part is amazing. However, his edges? nah. His stretch and line, not great. someone used the word spastic, that's about right, to discribe his stiltedness. I wasn't drawn into the program for his artistry. Jumps, yes. but needs at least 3 points less maybe more in PCS, [...]

I only get to see Sam once a year, but he gives me life every single time!! That's one of the best programs of the year! His entire body is into the movement. The spins are gorgeous. So many details. Bravo! :points:
If you have a way to watch Sectionals you can see him twice.

Yes, because he's too old for juniors. He'll be 22 in June.
He's going to be one who drives me nuts. He needs a 3A and some quads, stat, or he's going to be lingering around 10-12 at US Nationals every year...oh Ashley says he's been unwell and that's why he's not been training them?

I have a problem knowing which of them at nationals are juniors. And who are eligible for senior comps?
They can compete at any age in juniors which doesn't help. Lots of pairs will skate in juniors who are age eligible for seniors.

It would be a real shame if Samuel Mindra never attains a 3Axel and he will need to in order to make any level of competitive impact in the sport. His basic skating, presentation, musicality, spins and footwork are all absolutely beautiful; he’s a skater’s skater. Someone please help him and Anthony Paradis of Canada to attain a 3Axel!!
Ashley said he had not been training them because he's been ill. Which tracks perfectly with his performance at Sectionals where he had only one jump, a triple flip, believe it or not. He just squeaked into Nationals.

Last night the upper levels were very full, as with the lower sections. Some of the boxes were occupied. The empty area were the sides and the expensive seats.
Maybe I wasn't looking during the women's:) Also when the expensive seats aren't occupied it feels emptier because that's mostly what you see when the skaters are skating. Women's has historically been the best attended. I'm so confused as to why pairs is tonight, but I guess we will see what the attendance looks like.
