i have never seen him have even the slight small lift issue... not that i have watched all his skates but he is one of the best lifters in the world.... so that was probably just a lack of focus.

I agree. I think the sad momentum of Ellie's falls before led to the failure of the last lift...Danny's hand didn't have a stable placement under Ellie's body in the air on the last lift which led to her tip over and their double fall. I watched it several times to see where it went wrong last night. Get up and try again next time. All a learning experience. Ellie's made a lot of great improvement. Hope Marcotte can keep working with her to get the landings on the jumps steadier under pressure.

Catching up as my body couldn't stay awake - oh, it's never a competition!
I wish I was able to be everywhere during the season and make as much flower crowns as possible, but it's impossible. I'm happy people across the world are making crowns for skaters, because skaters deserve all the love
ETA - I found photos of Mark Sadusky wearing the crown on IG, what a fabulous effort whoever made it!

I agree. I think the sad momentum of Ellie's falls before led to the failure of the last lift...Danny's hand didn't have a stable placement under Ellie's body in the air on the last lift which led to her tip over and their double fall. I watched it several times to see where it went wrong last night. Get up and try again next time. All a learning experience. Ellie's made a lot of great improvement. Hope Marcotte can keep working with her to get the landings on the jumps steadier under pressure.

It is a learning experience. They are getting stronger and it is still possible with how weak pairs is they could help the US sweep all four disciplines. Kam and OShea cando the tricks; they just need the confidence. They were held up here because their free skate was a mess and that shouuld be reflected more in pcs.

McBeath/Parkman were assigned to the OWG Test Event instead of 4CC, Shin/Nagy are going to 4CC instead of them.

Oof, USFS is not nice to M/P. But given their outing in China, it's not too surpising.

They've gotten the Olympic Test Event which is also happening during 4CC, so they do have something.

I'm very disappointed that Ellie and Danny had that poor skate last night. It seems they had progressed and improved and would be able to withstand the pressures of being the favorite. sigh And for Emily and Spencer something similar. I appreciate the steadiness of E/M and I'm glad they won with a good skate. They have jelled as a team quickly. Oh well for whoever goes to worlds, may both teams skate as best as the possibly can. I'll cross all my fingers for that.

They have definitely progressed and improved - they won 2 GP medals and made the GPF. Something was badly off last night. I love Danny as we all know, but I'm wondering if he wasn't a bit overconfident. I hope they sort it out quickly as I don't want their Olympic dream being derailed.

They're holding it in the venue where they're going to have the Olympics next year. It'll be interesting to see who other feds send.

This whole event has very limited entries, and that's really all I know. I don't think there will be a US woman because if there was going to be one, they would have already announced it.

The way Danny was singing along to Backstreet Boys like it was karaoke night before the final group made me think he was feeling super relaxed. I don't know if that's his way of trying to de-stress and he seems like a very happy person, but it's like he wasn't even feeling the competition nerves. They had a decent lead, but then after E/M's skate, they suddenly have to score 134+, better than their personal best, to retain the title. That's just such a tall ask, hard not to be tight and to make a few mistakes. The fall out of the lift was unfortunate, of course.

But omggg, I LOVED Efimova/Mitrofanov. I thought they were one to watch since last year, and they did not disappoint! They definitely had THE "Nationals" moment of the competition for me, along with Alyssa's SP. Their throws remind me of when huge throw 3S or 3Lo with stable, long, running edges were the norm of the best pairs in the 00s-10s. Perhaps that's why I also like Hase/Volodin so much. Not a fan of the smaller 3Lz and 3F throws with dodgy landings, pitched forward or step outs, that we see today.

The jumps have always been Efimova's weakness, but I'm seeing improvement over the last two years in this area too. She landed two decent 3S-2A sequences in the fall GP events and now 3S-2A-2A even if it was a fight. This was the first time that I've seen her land a pretty solid 3T, even with a minor toe tap down on the ice. The 3S seems more stable for her, so I'd think about swapping the SBS jumps in the short program to a 3S. Keep going, E/M!

Between their improvement and K/O's improvements from the fall too, the US actually has a pretty decent duo of pairs teams to send to Worlds!

I asked this also in their fan thread: Is it possible to see that performance posted somewhere? Youtube? I didn't see the event, not having free TV access anyway, and being absorbed in a Burns Night Supper and dance when the pairs event was on. My partner would like to see that program, or the whole US pairs event, not in a car-crash-bystander way but so he can see for himself what the error was. Just reading a description doesn't tell him everything as an experienced male pairs skater himself.
