2025 U S.Nationals Senior Women's Short Program

Well, that was awful judging

The funny part is they show Alysa Liu in the lead and then show her 3F 3T<

The federation clearly are pushing Alysa, Amber and Elyce.

I felt bad for Lindsay… yes, she under rotates her jumps, but, so do Alysa and Bradie.

Alysa is the athlete I’m rooting for, despite the biased judging. I just love that she is back.

The battle will be between Bradie and Sarah for the Worlds spot. Which, might not be decided till after 4CC.

Elyce still has a chance to go to Junior Worlds though. Battle for the second spot if Sarah does beat Bradie, which, I think she will due to her consistency.

So, could be a battle between Sherry, Logan, Mia and Elyce for the Junior Worlds spot.
i give full credit to Bradie for continuing the fight. I honestly don't think she is one of the favourites. Her skating kind of bland but she is still here and still in the mix kind of like gum on the bottom of your foot - can't get rid of it. She's tough and she might make the team especially without Ava, Isabelle a nd Clare.

I didn’t mention Bradie as being a federation favourite. I think she is there back up. It will be tough for her to hold off Sarah.

My opinion is this Alysa wion the night period. Amber left points in the table and that why she is where she is. I think Bradie was over scored and Sarah was underscored badly. Think that if Isabeau does not go to Worlds then the team should be Alysa, Amber and Sarah. If we talking about the 3rd women who just has to make the free skate then let's give to the one who is going to be our future then the one from our past

Being in an earlier group sure did not hurt Alysa Liu though!
True. I thought Alyssa was stunning. I was responding to Jackie Wong's post listing PCS scores in order and to have Sonja with a score of 28 and ranked 11th in PCS is just silly. She doesn't have the jumps but she's up there IMHO with Amber and Alyssa in performance and choreo. I'm not a skater so maybe there are tech things I don't understand but I cannot fathom how she is nearly 15 points behind.

I think Alysa's consistency makes her a very good bet for placing decently internationally. I like her a lot and her program is cute. But, if you want to pick someone whose national scores don't align with their international scores this season, she's the one.

Alysa just came back. Her speed, levels, rotation and presentation improved quite a bit since her Challengers. I think she will score well at Worlds, especially if she goes as National Champion. Her short is a masterpiece. As for her long, MacArthur Park is a stylistic departure for her, so it will be interesting to see if this program can garner high PCS at Worlds.

I like the program and I think she sold it a lot better here. But, unless the USFS has more power than I think they actually do,she's not getting anything close to this score internationally. The URs get called and the judges are currently rewarding power skaters like Kaori/ Amber, Wakaba. She's a bit slow which is why her international PCS have been very modest this season. Her leading is probably fair because Amber wasn't clean, Bradie also URs, and Sarah's not going to get high PCS anywhere. But, even if the 3-3 is rotated ( it wasn't) she's only going to get around 71/72 for a similar ( good ) performance. That score was a choice but, perhaps, a wise one from the USFS.

Amber showed the problem with being primarily an ultra-c jumper, one error and she's almost out of contention for the gold now. She needs to be perfect with the 3A to be competitive.

Liu was a cut above but that 35 PCS I'm not sure that is realistic though. As well the scoring on the jumps she a couple 4's on the combo which had illegal prerotation on flip and the 3T was underrotated. The 2A was off axis (got one 5 and three 4's  wow!), and the 3Lz was massively off axis, as well as the landing being on the quarter, landing with her weight on the front of her skate. And 5's on the step sequence! Extraordinary!

Liu was best, but the judging needs to be objective.

NBColympics on IG has Tara commenting on Amber's landing of her 3A attempt. They do a slow mo. This is when the skates hit the ice. At this point, she is traveling left to right.

Very lucky to just get a q for that she landed on both feet and almost forward landing it should have been a downgrade unless I'm mistaken. Got away with not getting an underrotation for the loop as well should have been a q at a minimum.

With three World's spots up for grabs, the officials need to be objective it's so unfair to some of the athletes.

My concerns about a slack tech panel have played out just as I feared they would.

I was enthralled by Alysa's skating and the emotional maturity, but let's be honest. The back half of that combo was under. On the other hand, everything else was immaculate. The spins were beautiful in position and solidly centered. Not a millimeter of travel.

Amber's axel was under, not q, and the loop was at least a q. Her skating this season has been lovely overall, but this program was overscored tonight. Everything looked frantic.

The cleanest skater was Sarah. Every element was neat as a pin. That would be a clean scoresheet internationally. If I were in the smokey back room with the selection panel, I'd be working like mad to get her named to the World team, because she's going to deliver a solid performance in the best position to provide a second placement if needed to get the third Olympic spot.

I assessed that jump as an under-rotation, but judging from that photo, it should have been a downgrade.

Amber brought up in the press conference how fatigued she was from the scheduling leading up to this event due to competing in the 3rd and 6th GP events, the Grand Prix Final, all the shows and media attention resulting from her success, and being sick prior to Nationals. She hasn’t had time to come down from the high of the fall season to take a break. She looks forward to skating the FS and will work hard to take so much pressure off of herself.

i think Amber's going to have an Ashley Wagner moment and knock it out of the park tonight. she's gotta be mad at herself and she's in a great spot to skate without the pressure of winning the short. i believe in her.

Alysa was EXQUISITE. for a skater who used to be known solely for her technical skills, she is so well rounded now. amazing what a couple years of life experience will do for your skating. i hope she can hold on to the podium or maybe even the win. moved me to tears.

Sherry was a highlight behind Alysa for me! her jumps are HUGE and she has such raw talent. she is one to watch the next couple years for sure.

i feel awful for Lindsay...i'm not a fan of her skating but wow that was harsh. it seems they're totally writing her off. i thought it would be around 65.
