2025 World Championships Pairs Short Program

Sara and Nicolo are great, was perfect really, i enjoyed a lot their SP, is perfect , have soul and meaning , isn't as the Georgians with their empty and without soul SP.

By the way my Italian wasn't perfect I think, well my dad teach me years ago..

If these placements don't change, (obviously they will) no country will qualify three pairs to the Olympics. The Americans are the closest at 5 and 9. That would mean more spots up for grab at the Olympic qualifying event next year.
I don't think that's necessarily true. They might just go to the pairs that made the FP but didn't come top 16.

You are right in that 16 pairs will qualify from this competition. I didn't phrase my comment correctly. More spots will be available for other countries at the qualifying competition if these results stand. Should the US do better or had the second Japanese pair done better, they could/could've sent another pair to the qualifying competition.

Not quite back home
. Not having seem anything but protocols

It seems like the witchcraft Canada did I'm the women so head paid for by our pairs... 😔
Its not over 'til its over, right? There is still the FS. 🤞🍀 And I enjoyed watching the Canadian teams skate today even if they were not as perfect as they might have wished.

Plus the Finns don’t have citizenship to go to the Olympics. I’m hoping the Poles and Ukrainians make it to top 16 :)

No country seemed to dominate so far. The Italians don't have 13 points either.

LOL Canada was in a precarious position. Max and Deanna did not look great this year and always have looked vulnerable even last. Almost the worst scenario happened for Canada Max and Deanna were shakey and didn' get the luck in respect to score - I think two poins and their position woudl be diffrent. Trenn and Lia also ended up lower - close to everyone and no to be mean while they did fine Canada's third team it was really up to the top two teams o earn three spots and they did not do the job plus he Americans were better tonite. I kind of felt Deanna and Max were just trying to make the olympics but their time is ticking - kind of like Jason Brown. I really hope both Deanna and Max and Lia and Trennt move up a lot but then again the cost of who - it would p robably be the Americans and the Georgians and or Australia? Didn't this happen to Meghan and Eric before the olympics and they came back for OGB? My pick were the Japanese - they are not as good as the former top Chinese or Russians but they aren't here so it is there's to lose. Germany will be second. Now can US get the bronze? I think Italy has it though. Ice is so slippery. But USA really is doing well on home grounds. They are in medal contention in both pairs and ladies with their two strongest events to come.

I think there are two different interpretations of what you mean by "More spots will be available for other countries at the qualifying competition if these results stand. "

If you mean there will be more Olympic spots to be earned at the qualifying competition, that isn't correct. If the current results hold, there will be 16 Olympic spots given out at this competition and 3 available for the qualifier.

However, if you mean there will be more teams vying for the 3 available spots at the qualifying competition, the answer is maybe.

If team Japan#2 had done better, then Japan would get 2 Olympic spots at this competition, but one other team at the bottom of the results would lose their spot. So in one scenario Japan2 goes to the qualifier, in the other bottom (knocked out by Japan2). The only way there would be more teams at the qualifier is if both the knocked-out team and Japan3 went to the qualifier. Does Japan have a team3 they could send?

If the USA gets 3 spots for Worlds, they would still get 2 Olympic spots at this competition (same as if they got 2 World spots), BUT they would be able to send a third team to the qualifier. So number of teams vying at the qualifier would be bigger (by 1).

If Canada does a bit better at this competition, they could get 3 Olympic spots (instead of 2). So they would knock someone at the bottom out, and that team would presumably try for a spot at the qualifier, so one more team vying for a spot at the qualifier.

If the current results hold after the free skate (which is possible but unlikely),
the Olympic pairs spots will be distributed:

2 spots: ITA, GER, USA, CAN
1 spot with the right to try to qualify one more: JPN, GEO, HUN, AUS
1 spot UZB, GBR, NED, FIN
