Hm... I´m the other way around, I found it annoying to begin with but I actually really enjoy the phrases now.

Big fan of Chris, Mark's intonation really bugs me - as does the repetition of 'showcasing' for every performance in his commentary and the need to know the 'concept' - as if its relevant. If you can't tell from watching the performance what its supposed to be about, its not relevant.

I am going to worlds - men's short and rhythm dance - first time going, I am local so figured I had to, and these fit into my schedule - and my Q is, if the event starts at 11:15 and then the next event is at 6 or whatever, how much of a break is there in between? Trying to figure out rides with my kids, etc.! TIA!

I plan on bringing an HDMI cable and connect my laptop to the hotel TV if the hotel does not have Peacock in their line up.

Last couple of competitions I watched they used the same music the skater skated to during replays which made perfect sense to me

Pretty sure we will never get Simon again. Voicewise - he has a very pleasant voice. It's a shame he used it to say unpleasant and stupid things.

I agree that Chris is probably the most accessible for those who aren't skating fans. However, I'm not really sure that is a necessary consideration for the English language commentary provided by the ISU. The USA and Canada have their own commentators for their TV coverage. That leaves just the UK, Australia and New Zealand. It is not available on mainstream TV in the UK for casual viewers to 'discover' when flicking through channels - people have to deliberately seek out either the (limited!) online BBC coverage or the ISU youtube channel. Very few casual viewers are likely to stumble across either. I don't know about Australia and New Zealand, but I would be surprised if it was on their mainstream TV.

FYI - The Norwegian/Nordic broadcaster (Viaplay Sport) has used the ISU stream commentators at EC and GP. I´m guessing they just used/bought the same stream. I have the impression this is the case with more broadcaster just using the ISU stream commentators. If they still stick with this, there will be a few casual viewers that are not watching the ISU stream directly. Particular Norway could get a few new viewers because they have been doing some media coverage since EC on Mia to try make awareness on that she can get Norway a spot at OG.

Oh I would like to add another thing I like about Chris - at least during EC he was actually low key calling out the judges for some questionable judging. He says his opinion and what he thinks about placement or calls. Without saying anything bad about other performances. I find that his comments are well balanced about this, he explains why he thinks so.

As much as I enjoy Mark, I´m starting to get a little bit tired that he is so loyal to the judges and won´t say anything about unfair placements. For JGP and jWorlds I think it´s the right thing to do. Judging bias is present there but it´s a bigger problem in seniors.

You bring up an interesting point. It used to be in the US there were many casual viewers for skating shows, pro comps, and am. comps...but not any more, IMHO. Witness the tanking of NBC rabbit ears coverage... I would love to know the Viewer figures for Worlds on Peacock....or any GP for that matter.....I am sure they are high in Japan for their own broadcasting. The Japanese appreciate Skating.
