2025 Worlds: Info and pre-game chat

Hi Chris - there's always New York to Southampton by boat - https://www.seat61.com/queen-mary-2-transatlantic.htm

By the way, the "Man in Seat 61" is a great resource for non-flight travel - I use it a lot for journeys to skating events.
The Man in Seat Sixty-One says: "From personal experience, staggering round a transatlantic liner in a dinner jacket with a martini is the normal, rational, reasonable way to cross the Atlantic. Heading for an airport and strapping yourself to a flimsy aluminium tube is an unfortunate and eccentric aberration." I love it!
The QM2 is a beautiful ship for sure..much more of an ocean liner/cruise ship hybrid, and not too big. And great art. The fact that Carnival Corp designed her is evident in her beautiful lines.....Queen Mary 2's principal naval architect was Carnival's in-house designer, Stephen Payne. She instantly reminds me of the classes of Holland Amerika ships I sail on.

Oh Crap!

Ana just posted a IG story of her with Annika Hocke trying to stay positive, because Annika also lost her luggage 😭😭 Now this has me really worried!! If this has happen to multiple skaters it seems to be an issue with the power outage at Heathrow that affected whole Europe. I would assume Annika flew from Germany?!

Annika trains in Bergamo, so she may have flown from Italy.

Oh geez! Just now seeing the stories about the luggage of the skaters. I hope everything gets straightened out quickly, and they get their luggage! This must be so upsetting for them.

On a personal note, I arrived in Boston about 90 minutes ago, and have checked into my room!

Looking forward to seeing my first World Championships live!

Do we know who is doing the announcing yet? I watched Belinda and her side kick tonight. (I live under a rock so I didnt know that in Hong Kong, tatoos are now a thing with women there. Joanna has a big one on her left shoulder and some on her arms and a medium one that takes up most of the right rear of her neck.)

Does anyone follow Amber on Instagram? I saw elsewhere that she posted about struggles. I don’t do Instagram but would like to judge her post for myself and adjust my predictions if needed. I love Amber but worry that all the negativity in the US is causing extra pressure for her. I plan to pray for mental strength for her.

Just a silly question - what is your, guys, strategy to deal with nerves (yes, you are reading it right :) !) while watching your favourites?
I've got many many skaters who I genuinely like and root for them but who I can watch skate at the major comps like the upcoming Worlds with excitement which would not go beyond normal level of excitement if you know what I mean.
But there is another group of skaters that managed to get so deep into my heart that it brings up almost physical pain to watch them. At the Worlds it will be Adam Siao Him Fa in men singles , Niina Petrokina in women and 2 pairs team - Alisa/Misha and Minerva/Nikita (conflict of interest here is an extra complication), dance I don't follow thank God.
I almost feel like I won't be able to watch them live for the fear of heart attack!
What do you do? Do you wait for the results and then dare to watch? Or read the comp thread first? I'd be interested to know!
