It is amusing how much more interesting and adventurous the pairs costumes were.

The costumes may have said "Vogue", but the music certainly wasn't anything to do with Madonna.

Eva ROZHNOVA / Platon ZUBKOV (FIN) skating to a couple of songs by Crystal Waters. I didn't like the songs.

Music mightn't have been good, but they were.

Hector has perfect 90s hair and a great smile; both have great energy. This ridiculous 90s theme seems to work better for very young skaters.
And also, bits of patterns!

I did wonder about them taking a while to come to their start position though - why? Such unnecessary thing risking the time deduction.....

I really enjoy Laura & Hector, and they have some strong basics and fundamental skating. I'm excited to see how they grow as a team (also, their cheer section is so adorable!)

First time we have somebody skate to "I Like to Move It", though. (And I am sure there will be more before the day is out!)

A big contrast in the two songs. But, it worked. They were good.

Villo is wearing a dark grey top with yellow collar, and yellow skirt. Istvan wearing a light grey T-shirt, black jacket with yellow pattern, and black trousers.

Three really contrasting songs that I would never have thought of putting together.

I love "Lovefool" by The Cardigans. But, it was so out of place in between "The Rockafeller Skank" by Fatboy Slim and the awful re-mix of "Get Ready For This" by 2 Unlimited.

But, it was a fun programme.

XING Yuxuan / CHAU Han Wan (HKG) doing a MC Hammer medley.

They are wearing matching costumes which are black with a diagonal silver line pattern. For Yuxuan it is a dress, while for Han Wan it is a T-shirt and trousers.

The music may not be my taste, but it made a really enjoyable programme.

I like these two.

I was just looking at the ISU Bio for XING Yuxuan / CHAU Han Wan (HKG) to check their ages, and spotted something interesting.

They are both from China, but from totally different parts of the country. Yuxuan is from the far north-east corner of the country, up in the skating capital of China, Harbin. Han Wan is from the far south-east corner of the country, just across the border from Hong Kong in Shenzhen.

I take it Han Wan is the one with connections to Hong Kong.
