"How does the figure skating team event work? Points are awarded based on ranking — first place gets 10 points, second place gets nine points, and so on. Points from each segment are added up for each nation, resulting in a final score."

TE Standings Update:

Right now, it is tight on the leaderboard. Team USA is out in front by two points, with a total lead of three points on their closest competitor, Japan. They picked up two valuable points in the RD and pairs SP, but their chance at winning will depend on putting Chock/Bates in the FD, and Ilia in the FS. They have a small cushion, and if they manage to win one or both of the womens' events they will almost certainly win, but it will come down to entry strategies.

Canada, Georgia, Italy, and France all need strong showings from their singles skaters. If one of these countries has two disaster skates (which is very possible, all of these teams have inconsistent skaters on them with the possibility of disaster), they could drop out of the free skate. France is most likely to not make it, but if Lorine skates clean and others have errors, and Kevin skates well tomorrow, they will likely be in the top five. Right now, Georgia has an edge on Italy for the bronze medal thanks to pairs and G/F finishing lower in dance, but they will need their singles skaters to finish mostly ahead of the Italian skaters to guarantee that medal.
