I get why Alysa gets hate, merely because anyone who wins Olympic gold and beats someone else's favorite does, but why are people mad at Amber? She didn't prevent anyone's favorite from getting a medal.

They are mad at Amber because she is bisexual and because she expressed concern about how divisiveness instead of inclusion has come to dominate U.S. politics.

I actually haven’t seen any Alysa hate. I’m waiting for these people to find out Alysa has basically the same opinions as Amber. But the Olympics are over, the news will keep churning and our niche sport will return to its niche. Thank the Skating Gods.

Kaori thanked Sarah Brightman for letting her use her music.

I used to even belong to the SB fan club. I have seen her live. I still play her music. She is a smart person. She knew early on if she let PBS play her concerts, she would be richer than old pharoh. By letting Kaori use her music, she got millions in promotion. Unlike those other "performers" who sue little kids.

I think you should read a bit more about copyrights. Performers do not usually sue little kids. Publicity doesn't pay bills. Sarah Brightman is an extremely wealthy woman. It helps that in her former glory, people still bought records.
I do not like the misinformation that is so often shared on this board. Skaters need to get their musical selection cleared. Most performing artists are covered with licenses. It's very easy for skaters to obtain permission from these artists... the application used is called eloquently, Click and Clear. That says it all. In some exceptional cases, some artists are not attached to these blanket licensing agencies. Permission needs to be given. In such cases, it's relatively easy to obtain most of the times. The one time we heard about skaters being sued by some very minor culprits is definitely not the way things are going.... Look, we still got music at the Olympics... Everyone enjoyed it. It was fun ? Where are the problems ? I think it's time that the discourse changes here : skaters are responsible to obtain rights for the music they want to use.. in 95% (If not more) of the cases, it's a piece of cake.... and everyone is happy. And no, free exposure doesn't pay the bills and musicians shouldn't be grateful that a figure skater or a dental office use their music without obtaining rights for it... just because it's free publicity..

I think I misworded something. I haven’t seen it (the answer) bother people in Australia but a certain group of people in the US are extremely angry and saying horrible things about Amber, who is one of the nicest skaters I’ve ever met. Up to and including wishing physical harm upon her. And it upsets me greatly.
I’ve seen them, too. I call them out.

My favorite baseless online rumor I've seen is that Alysa has fallen for a MAGA guy, and that guy is Barron Trump.

LOL. I actually hope that one is true, just because it would be so deliciously funny.

UGH - some of these rumors are cringeworthy. Sometimes the internet is just toooooo much. Anybody can say anything about anybody and there are no recriminations. Disgusting. And I would hope Alysa is smarter than that.
Oh, I agree with the online rumor bit, but Alysa could do worse than fall in love and marry a billionaire's son... although not for one second do I put any stock in that rumor - where would they even meet?

As a tolerant person, I hope she finds personal happiness with whomever she can. Seems to me that true happiness is a rare enough phenomenon that I'll take the wins where I find them.

And thus ends dipping my toe into the murky waters of celebrity relationships, because other than general goodwill, I don't really care.

I can't believe that Alyssa would ever get involved with...yikes, I can't even say the name... 😱
Oh, the fanfiction about them that I just had Copilot AI write is so sweet. I'm sure you'd enjoy it. Here's the ending:

"And in that golden light, with waves whispering secrets, they knew this was the real gold—something fragile, beautiful, and entirely their own."

It goes without saying, it's been a slow day at work. LOL

Yeah, normally I don't fault kids for their parents' beliefs because mine were conservative evangelicals, but Baron was heavily involved in his dad's third campaign so their beliefs probably align closely. I can't even imagine where Alysa and Baron would cross paths though.

My AI-produced Fanfiction has the answer to this burning question!

"That's when she noticed him—tall, impossibly tall, standing near the window like he was trying to blend into the shadows despite being impossible to miss. Barron Trump, 19, had come to the Games as a low-key guest, invited through some diplomatic-family connection. He wore a dark suit that somehow made his 6'9" frame look even more striking, though he'd loosened the tie and rolled up his sleeves like he was done pretending to be formal. He wasn't here for the spotlight; he rarely was. But the Olympics had drawn him out, drawn by the same quiet intensity that had pulled Alysa back to the ice."

Y'all know you want more of the story. But you're going to have to beg me for the first date scene.

I've been waiting for a return call on an important issue... one that I can't make any headway on until a decision is made... and I've spent the whole day piddling. It's maddening.

Wasting time on a completely random rabbit hole side-quest has helped save my sanity today. I predict I'll get my answer right at the end of the day, and then I'll spend the weekend wrapping up what I could be doing now instead of generating teen-friendly romantic drivel between cups of coffee.
