Another dumb joke stereotyping male skaters

Perhaps they were uncomfortable with the idea of "a manly hockey player" having a male roommate.

It's hard to believe that is the reason. Wayne Gretzky and Kevin Lowe were roommates for several years when they started in the league. And lots of players share when they are first traded and/or are waiting for their families to join them.

I did not mean to imply that the male roommate was the reason for the murder for hire plot. I suggested that the tabloid media "spiced up" the story with the "gay flavor" simply b/c of the fact that the roommate was MALE but not a fellow teammate.

Yes, most rookies, 1st year players, trade deadline additions, etc. have roommates but these roommates are typically offiliated with the team. Mike Danton's roommate was a much older gentleman - you can see how the tabloids would go crazy! Of course, now it's reported that the fellow was Danton's agent who was "staying" with him.
