Canadian ice dancer Nadiia Bashynska and France's Noé Perron have teamed up for a brand-new partnership—and it already feels "meant to be." After connecting through a mutual friend, the two met for a tryout in Lyon and immediately clicked.

The duo plans to represent Canada, pending Perron's release from the French federation, and will debut later this season at the Sectional Series, followed by Skate Canada Challenge and Nationals.

For the two skaters who weren't sure they'd continue competing, this season is about connection, growth, and joy.

What are your thoughts on this new partnership? Will they challenge? What are your expectations?

Thanks for this "in depth" article. I am just happy Nadiia has found a partner and that she can still skate and compete. For the rest, we will see. Lyon and IAM Ontario may not have been connected before but Dubreuil Lauzon did train in Lyon with Muriel Boucher-Zazoui so I am guessing the back and forth will not be too challenging in terms of "sport vision"

I have to say that I really liked Peter and Nadiia together and it was tough to see them struggle so much in the last couple seasons, so I am excited to see Nadiia in a new partnership, one that feels good to her.

Regarding Canadian ice dance and their possibilities in the future : well, at the end of this year, I'd expect Gilles and Poirier to retire. Marie-Jade and Romain are getting up there in ages but with their new IAM Ontario happiness, maybe they will feel like they have another cycle in them, but of course, I don't know. LaLa and Fabbri-Ayer are still young. So are Hensen Lickers who are just starting to get international exposure. So it will be indeed packed (and what is Peter doing in terms of flag ? ) but many teams could be around the same level, so it feels sort of open for everyone, with LaLa of course, being the new top dogs after Piper and Paul's retirement. I guess it's similar in France too, so the decision probably came down to where the release would be easier and how strongly Nadiia felt about Canada. (Having won two bronze medals at JWC for her)
