with all due respect, i can totally understand that for you it's a joke… but for others it may feel inappropriate.. you can not decide how it is perceived by others… whether it is a skater, a fan, a choreographer… etc… as i said in my first comment, a joke can be fine behind closed doors but when shared on social media, we have to be self-editing… and more delicate about such things.
Sorry but that video was funny. Patrick has some of the most distracting facial expressions. People need to calm down. This isn't hate speech: it's a joke.

PS I am very calm :)

On distracting facial expressions:

I will never forget watching the Olympic gala where Patrick had to speak on behalf of the gold medalists...his facial expression was downright frightening.

I've heard the "Patrick Crazy Eyes" are quite well known around these parts.

I wouldn't make fun of his eyes, they're a bit unusual but it was due to an accident when he's young, he does have what my friends call a thousand yard stare but he can't help it, he seems comfortable in his own skin so I don't think what these boys did would bother him (if he knows at all). It's up to Patrick whether or not he finds it offensive, what happened with Gracie Gold however is not comparable.

As for the men I don't think it'll just be Patrick vs Yuzuru, really men are just too volatile to tell, it's not often they have clean programs, sometimes I really wish we could see some Russian ladies' consistency in the men but unfortunately that's not the case. Javier and Denis are just as much a threat to be World Champions, it's just a shame that the 4 of them are all so talented but only 3 of them can be on a podium.

As Krunchii says, Patrick suffers from an eye condition where his right eye cannot look "up" properly, due to nerve or muscle damage. No need to make fun of it.

As for the video, it's just boys acting silly and having fun.

I agree with both statements.

Humor is a sensitive and super subjective subject...like PCS points.

In Japan, Oda goes around imitating Akiko, Machida and Yuzuru quite often for TV....it is his signature thing....I find it quite funny, as I found Daniels impression of Patrick very funny. But I understand how others might be offended if they think their favorite is being disrespected.

It really depends on your point of view.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread, because I don't care about this rivalry...but I didn't realize Daniel and Adian had entered the conversation. Adian's favorite skater is Patrick, and Daniel respects him a lot. My taste is different from theirs to say the least...but I can say with great confidence that the video was not meant in a cruel way at all.

I like your analogy!

To me Oda's humour will always score 9+.....well, except for a brief period he seem to have imitated Akiko's POTO ending pose wayyyyy too often on TV (at least it felt like that to me XD), then it started to feel like a program with over-tano jumps...even though the technique was spot on, but I wanted to see something different! -2 points on lack of creativity!! But he has since pushed his boundary and widen his scope, so he's back to the 9+ range again.

I thought the video was kind of funny as well.

I just didn't want to be ripped to shreds.

Also: I had no idea about the eye thing (I thought that was just something he often did). I would not have said that if I did and apologize for how that may have come off.

maybe because i knew about the eye thing that it is bugging me a bit more… but in any case, as i said earlier let's move back to the main topic… the rivalry we are looking forward to seeing!!!!

Fortunately, there are many podiums.

Seems that Oda's popularity is growing bigger and bigger in Japan by his attitude and humor.

Because:
- Hanyu spins faster, do you want slow motion video as proofs?
- Hanyu has more difficult spin positions, do you need to go back to both of their performances to see which positions are more difficult?
- Hanyu keeps his center of spin quite well with much faster speed.

Very simple spins from Yuzuru, not even his hardest spins (doughnut, legs over the head, Biellmann)

Yuzuru's spin in competition:

And Patrick's spin when he broke the WR:
