It's all a matter of personal choice. For me, Chopin and anime are very dissimilar. On the one hand you have the glorious classical, albeit tired, music and the somewhat childish anime costume. Patrick's "dad" costume fit the music and the choreography. Fortunately there is always something for everybody's taste. It's going to be an interesting season. But I agree with os168. Patrick could easily do both programs.....I would love to see Hanyu do Patrick's program.

Frankly, though Patrick clearly had better SS, I thought Yuzuru was better in terms of PE, INT, and CH. Especially with that Chopin program. Whereas Patrick, well... as always, I'm impressed by his skating skills, but everything else was just... okay. I started getting bored by the end, even though I could tell the StSq was wonderful from a technical perspective. Usual "just my subjective opinion" disclaimers apply of course.

That being said, I am surprised the judges went the way they did on PCS. I don't think it'll happen again in the LP with them in the same group (and Yuzuru not getting something else invalidated, hopefully)

I agree that when taken out of context words can be easily misconstrued. This is why actions often speak louder than words. Even my untrained eye can recognize and appreciate Patrick's talent and beautiful skating however because of this simple action he decided to take I personally could never be a fan. This wasn't posted by the media or anyone else but Patrick himself. And for what purpose? Footage clearly showed this to be an accident and Yuzuru immediately going over to check on him. If Patrick's fans really were inquiring then I'm sure he could've thought of a more mature way to respond. I almost choked when you mentioned "responsibility on social media" after seeing the video Adian posted of Daniel imitating Patrick. I'm not condoning what they did but hope you also had harsh words for Patrick and what is IMO his inappropriate post as well. Speaking of actions speaking louder than words, know what I personally remember most about CoC 2014? Yuzuru looking for Han before the 2nd 6 minute warmup, then visibly upset after realizing a fellow competitor was possibly going to have to withdraw. The friendly, acknowledging handshake in back between these two boys who happen to represent countries with a long standing strained relationship. Then Han using social media for good to firmly put a stop to any nonsense denying the collision was an accident. Inspiring actions by an 18 and 19 year old who were at the time hardly fit to compete. I'm a fan of both Yuzuru and Han not only because I find beauty in their skating but because in my eyes they have proven themselves to be decent young men as well.

2) he doesn't mention anything about anyone else, simply showing why he was fiddling with his costume....
i rarely watch gala shows so I have no knowledge of the incident but seeing the picture doesn't tell me that he is acting poorly. it's actually the public assigning a meaning to the picture...
not having seen the cut, nor the gala, nor having been in this forum long enough to have followed this, I have NEVER heard about this accident, and I do not think that Patrick was making any accusations about anything...

Hanyu did a flying drop and sliced Patrick's chest. No major injury but pretty scary. Patrick checked his wound and what's wrong if he showed the drama later for his fans who were curious what had happened? Neither Patrick nor his fans have made a big deal out of it or blamed Hanyu.

eta that Patrick just showed his battle scar to his fans. The drama was captured and shown elsewhere by other people.

Yeah I never got the idea that Patrick was trying to blame Hanyu or make Hanyu look bad ; he was showing the war wound lol. Perhaps we have far too many Madison chock's on this website lol. No need to make trouble when it doesn't exist. there is enough to worry about in this world besides our self created histrionics. But really as much as Javier's is fun there is real brilliance in hanyu and chan - I think they both deserve oly gold and fame. They are special and it is rare. Yes, there are issues but the level is so high. Both are tue to themselves artists and have their own style. But while there will be another fun guy like Javier something like a Hanyu or chan are special. We are lucky to see these guys. And as much as we make funof chan nd his falls - hello denis Ten who is far more inconsistent and Hanyu and his animae - yes, he probably is not a true artist as Daisuke Takahahsi still a marvel - animae or not lol.

I apologize. I don't mean to bring drama to this thread. In my opinion it was just uncalled for posted a month or so after the fact. Particularly because Patrick is often judged harshly for his words I wondered why he would do something that could understandably cause more misunderstanding. I don't necessarily think his intention was to blame Yuzuru but seemed more of a somewhat immature attempt to gain attention (just my opinion again). And for an athlete who is as talented and respected for his skills as Patrick is I find this to be quite unnecessary. All he needs is to take the ice for all eyes to be fixated upon him.

Most people missed this accident when it happened though some wondered why Patrick was pulling his shirt and checking it. Patrick was just skating around slowly with others so there was not much drama and attention like when two skaters collided at practice. Details of the accident were shown later on the web so Patrick was getting inquiries and posted picture of his wound.

Aren't Hanyu's and other skaters' fans just as curious and concerned with any accident, injury and wound suffered by them?
