Cool Song Ideas For Skating Programs

I have no idea if this thread has been done before but I'll do it anyways.

Since skaters of all disciplines are allowed to use songs with lyrics for competition, what songs do you think will be cool for programs?

PS: I'm extremely sorry to ANYONE who I annoyed at all.

I'm not trying to be annoying on purpose. I don't know why sometimes I come off that way. I mean I do know. But I don't know why I do it.

Anyways, any ideas for songs?! :)

I want to see some Michael Jackson with lyrics. He has plenty of stuff that would work great for skating.

No Doubt's Just a Girl could be a fun one especially for a ladies skater that does not want to be the classic perfect little lady.

cheerknithanson, hope your post will generate a good discussion. :) Do you yourself have any songs in mind that you think would be cool ?

(Sorry that I do not, but music is a popular topic on GS.)

I'm actually working on a track from the OST for a local skater for the song 'The Labryinth' but couldn't find a link for it. This one is good too.

Or for something more fun and modern maybe the Naked and Famous

"Daddy's Little Girl" by Jesse McCartney
"18" by 5 Seconds of Summer (I found a sped up version on YouTube that works perfectly"
"Strangers Like Me" from "Tarzan"
"A Whole New World" from "Aladdin"
"Don't Stop" by 5 Seconds of Summer

FP for Ladies:
"Amnesia" by 5 Seconds of Summer
"Besides You" by 5 Seconds of Summer (We can extend the song a LITTLE more just for it).
"Don't Forget Where You Belong" by One Direction

"Gotta Be You" by One Direction
"Taken" by One Direction
"He Lives in You" from "The Lion King"
"Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood
"Love Song" by Hanson
"I Will Come to You" by Hanson
"Madeline" by Hanson
"Already Home" by Hanson
"Save Me From Myself" by Hanson
"With You in Your Dreams" by Hanson
"Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T's
"Fifteen" by Taylor Swift (Okay it can be shortened)
"You Raise Me Up" (Westlife version)
"Mine" by Taylor Swift
"Bad Day" by Daniel Powter
"What About Now" by Chris Daughtry
"Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie (It can be shortened)
"The World's Greatest" by R. Kelly
"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper

FP for Men
"Tonight" by Hanson
"Look at You" by Hanson
"Voice in the Chorus" by Hanson
"If Only" by Hanson
"Dying to be Alive" by Hanson
"Underneath" by Hanson
"Broken Angel" by Hanson
"Go the Distance" by Michael Bolton
"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day
"Hat Full of Stars" by Cyndi Lauper
"Angel" by Sarah McLachlan
"You Raise Me Up" (Josh Groban or Celtic Woman version)
"Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day
"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from "The Lion King" (Musical)
"All of Me" by John Legend

Which particular skaters would you love to see skate to which of those songs? Any suggestions?

The fact that lyrics are now allowed opens up such a large catalog of songs that haven't been used before in skating, that it is a very exceiting time :)

^ I'd prefer a break from Skyfalls, they have been featured quite a bit of late, as well as Someone Like You. JMO :)

Let's say I can choose just one song - then I'd love
- for a lady to skate to What a Feeling (that song was just made to be skated to, it has perfect moments for a step sequence, for jumps, so why is noone choosing it? )
- for a dance couple to skate to All the Right Moves, such a ballroom tune. Especially as an exhibition, full with masquerade costumes that reminiscent of the song's video. Or just about anything from Saturday Night Fever, say, Manhattan Skyline or Disco Inferno... great soundtrack for skating to modern music. A guy skating to this soundtrack would be awesome too.

You know what would be very different...and maybe cool for our asian fans....
J-Pop, K-Pop asian pop etc. It has a big following all over asia and amongst many asian youth in other countries
Or many more folk or national music.

It's not my cup of tea but if anything that attracts a new or a younger audience is good in my books

I'm not sure Asian pop music would make for good program music; there might be one in a thousand songs that would work.
I'm surprised there haven't been any major fantasy movie soundtracks used: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings
As for songs with lyrics I'd love a good program to 'Shall we Dance' from The King and I.
I don't know if it's in the correct timing for ice dance but it would work for pairs
Or the Sound of Music Soundtrack - I know W/P did it as a short dance, but I'd love to see it as a free

I would love to see any pair skating to this song: http://youtu.be/z50k367WgPs

Swan dive down eleven stories high
Hold your breath until you see the light
You can sink to the bottom of the sea
Just don't go without me

Go with us where no one can be found
Drink so long and deep until you drown
Say your goodbyes but darlin' if you please,
Don't go without me.

C'est la vie, C'est la mort.
(Such is life, such is death.)
You and me,
Forevermore.

Lets walk on the road that has no end
Steal away where only angels tread
Heaven or hell or somewhere in between
Cross your heart and take me with you please
Don't go
Please don't go
Don't go without me

Very romantic! A good theme for pairs or ice dance. :)

I actually think this has been done as an exhibition, just can't recall by whom, otherwise I'd post a link.:

Well, they have retired now but, I always thought that Bebe Liang or Armin M. should skate to " Zero To Sixty In Five. " By Pablo Cruise. It's a rock based piano concerto ( With no vocals ) and since they both played piano, I thought they could really bring it to life.

I have wanted someone to skate to Pan's Labyrinth since the film came out! The soundtrack is powerful, yet gentle at the same time.
