Could Kwan in her prime beat a clean Yu Na Kim

The Only person that can solve such a difficult math is somebody like yourself...with a DOCTOR's degree

..or just a doctor:cool:

Olympia I cant believe you missed the P/T and SB talking:eek::laugh:

Actually, it wouldn't be too hard for a pairs team to do seven triples if you count the throws and the twist. Then they'd each just have to do two side-by-side triples.

Whether their initials are P/T or not.

Has it ever been done? TT/MM maybe?

Robin and Aliona have been doing two sets of side-by-side triples in their Panther LP this season. Shen and Zhao also did two sets of side-by-side triples.

I think yes, I am not a huge Yu-Na fan for some reason, not quite sure why, but her skating doesn't really hold my interest. I prefer some of the other current girls... Carolina Kostner, Mirai Nagasu to Yu-Na Kim.

You should have left this thread to dissapear, why on earth you have to scoop it up? I have a better idea, let's compare Yu Na to Sonja Henje:think:

Henjie won atleast half of her titles by her father buying the medals. Once he even chased a judge down the street with a broom who didnt vote for her. She was outskated many times by Herma Szabo, Maribel Vinson, Ceclia Colledge, and was protected by the bought out judges.

Sonja Henie will always be known as the best, and deservedly so, it wasn't a cake walk for her, she worked hard at it (e.g. http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...tioned-on-BIOGRAPHY-S-Celebrity-Ghost-Stories), as all champions do. She's now a skate god imho. I'll leave it at that.

Back on topic, imho Michelle Kwan at her best versus Yuna Kim at her best would be a toss up. Michelle has the edge on consistency and doing more triples, which she would need in order to outjump Yuna Kim. And I honestly think that's the only way she & others (then & now) can defeat Yuna Kim ~ outjumping her. Because right now I don't see anybody that can match her as an all-around skater ~ Yuna has excellent speed, very good spins, decent spirals, fully rotated BIG triples & triple-triples, excellent performance ability, deep edges, correct technique, lovely footwork, et al.

Aha, but in the future I can see Mao & Mirai being able to go head-to-head with Yuna on their own individual merits. And that's exactly what Mao is working on; she's a hard worker so I would never doubt her. But Mirai's a question mark. And then of course there are a plethora of others whom if hungry enough can manage to improve in order to defeat Yuna. Nothing's impossible!

Kim can do 6 triples since she can do every triple-triple or double-triple combination there is and still easily has more jump base value than most doing 7 triples. Anyway COP is different, and ommiting a triple isnt that big a deal anymore if you can collect the points other ways. And obviously Mao is doing multiple triple axels most times, she just has to muter an adequate enough jump layout otherwise.

I think you must mean combinations ending triple toe (which I agree with) rather than every triple-triple there is as I do not think Kim can land 3+3Lp or 2+3Lp.

I think Savchenko/Szolkowy have maxed out with 9 triples (assuming they went clean at least once with the current jump plan over the last couple of seasons) they have SBS 3T+3T SEQ then solo SBS 3S (for six triples) plus throw triple flip and salchow (for 8) and the triple twist for 9!

I really hope you are right about Mirai. But do Mirai's speed, spins, and spirals compare well to Yuna's? I don't ask about footwork, but Mirai's has never been as good as Yuna's.

Speaking as a YuNa fan...Mirai has excellent speed, some of the best-in-the-world spins (top 3 ladies for sure), and nice spirals.

I can't believe this thread woke up...

And I agree with PrettyKeys. Mirai is very speedy and has great spins and great extensions on spirals, but the free skate is not known to be her forte.

She has better spins (they look more centered) and better extensions on spirals than Yuna does, IMO; but she doesn't have skill to make an impact when doing them like Yuna does (yet--hopefully).

As for footwork, I don't know, but I prefer Mao's over Yuna's and Mirai's.

I like YuNa's footwork because it goes exactly with music, while Mao's is always a bit behind music.

^ I feel like everyone's footwork is a bit behind the music nowadays (except Daisuke's). Idk. I don't really like the footwork section for the ladies in general, but I love Mao's twizzles much, much more than Yuna's.

I love Mao's footwork, inc. her twizzles, because with her, it's so much more than about footwork.

She uses her whole body so beautifully, and the 'footwork' section is a chance to see her fluid, balletic lines in action!
