Deniss Vasiljevs

I really enjoyed his SP yesterday. I did not even notice UR. I actually didn't get why he had level 3 in step sequence. He'll perfect the performance and is going to have a great program!
What was it today? For the third time he does not show his fantastic program in full brilliance!? Was it the first popped quad? The jumps seemed to make him nervous. Maybe no quads for him! :scratch2:

With all this I do not want to say that I don’t consider Deniss to be a briliant skater, but I want him (and he does, too) to be on the podium, but without perfect triples it won’t happen ever!

It is true, silverfoxes, that American and Japan figure skaters are surrounded by big supporting teams with not only coaches but also psychologists etc. Russia provides a huge state support because it’s historically a prestige sport there. Deniss doesn't have so much support and he is not always on a level playing field.

What was it at the boards at the end of the program?

I feel a little bit sorry for Stephane, he looked disappointed. But as he said, "It’s life"...

Anyway, I’m sure that at Euros and Worlds we will see great programs!:luv17:

(Did you notice that Deniss's body has become very masculine?) :)

I loved Deniss' FS. Even though he's got a lot on work on on the TES side of the program, I think the choreography is great and he performed it beautifully. His musicality is really nice and even the emotions he put into that program. Lovely. Climb up the ranks Deniss, cheering for you!!!:hap10::clap:

According to the people sitting nearby, somebody took his skate guards to the backstage.

His body changed recently: he's taller and his shoulders are wider. That does'n help in jumping, I'm afraid. On the other hand his thighs are even more muscled than last season so he must have practicing insanely to counterbalance new body features. And he lost weight visibly during last weeks. So he seems to work very hard - but with no effects he could be very happy with...

For me his starts till now are OK. I mean last season was extremely difficult, then he spent a lot of time performing in shows, got his programs later than usually, and - what's the most important - the programs are on a higher level, demanding both technically (these transitions!) and physically. I didn't expect fireworks from him in the beginning of the season, having in mind that Stephane planned Deniss' peak at Europeans. So I just enjoy his performances, the more what he's doing on the ice (some jumps apart) is simply beautiful. And it's appreciated also by judges, his PCS is quite high (and his choreo sequence got 3rd best score this season).

What really bother me is his attitude in Grenoble. He was in bad mood almost all the time, sad and distracted. And he gave up at the last spin, what's very unlike him. Just pray it's nothing serious.

Hope for sunshine on his face soon :).

Not a perfect skate but, I'd say, decent enough ;) Yesterday when I sneakily checked the results I was relieved he scored +220 in total. We know he's capable of much more but at least it's a marked improvement from NHK. To put things in perspective, Matteo medalled at a GP with a score only slightly better than that. Anyway, hopefully they'll both improve as the season progresses

I'm into the Samurai programme. It's bound to be a hit when he hits all the elements.

So now onto Golden Spin.

Yea we interviewed him and I was the interviewer...😂😂 I can‘t still really believe it happend. I will write a longer report sometime this week.
If you want to see something of my Grenoble story check out my Insta (Judithdomi89) under „Grenoble 2018“.

The interview was great! I will make a transcript of it and publish it but it will take me time. Maybe I will manage on Tuesday afternoon!

This was basically one of the best/ if not THE best weekend of my life!!

Oh my gosh, you must be thrilled! A weekend to remember, for sure. Lucky you. Looking forward to it.

How exciting! :dance3: Can't wait to read the interview.

Ladybug89, great news! Thank you so much for all your photos and videos, I can't wait for the report. I'm so happy Deniss could meet people who like him and get such a beautiful and personalized gift.

Janimi, I wouldn't be sad. It's a form of a praise, isn't it? I mean how many skaters are told to have similar skills to Stephane? How many of them are actually able to achieve his level? And Deniss is still a teenager.

Edit: I believe it's a screenshot from today's gala broadcast, but anyway it should be sent (the first one) to a casting director of "The Witcher" or "Game of Thrones" spin-off :luv17:;).

I just want to say Deniss has become my fave men's skater! His skating is amazing! Even with falls I would rather watch him than a lot of others who go clean. There is just something so special about him! :luv17:

You said, icetug,
''What really bother me is his attitude in Grenoble. He was in bad mood almost all the time''.

I watched his EX. He was so happy and relaxed. Therefore I still think that it’s jumps which might cause his depressed mood. Simon Reed (Eurosport) has several times repeated,''He has everything else and if he masters quads….'' Yes, then he will be an instant rival for awards! I’m looking forward to it. :medal"

But on the other hand, maybe he is really tired. Kolyada, for example, went to Bali to relax. There was a gorgeous summer in Latvia. So he should have gone fishing, swimming, sunbathing and simply having fun. But it's my speculations.

Congratulations! I’m looking forward to the news from you. I hope you’ll also tell us if he really leaves such a dazzling impression on people!:hap93:

You are right, icetug. :agree: There is only one Lambiel and it's a huge compliment to be compared with him. Simon always notices it and sometimes annoys me. Though I recognize Stephane’s movements, gestures and positions, I never even remember about Steph during Deniss’ performance. Deniss is surely not a copy of his coach!

Super news from Reut!!!!

''Yes, the tensed mood was because of the music (I already heard weird rumors fans invented based on no idea what exactly), Stephane was furious about it. Deniss was angry too, he said.
Koshiro finished 3rd overall which means after junior GPF he will go to senior Nationals (top 6 from junior nats are allowed to take part with seniors). Stephane is supposed to be there with him.

I will write more when I have time. I have loads of photos and we will publish my interview with Stephane towards the GPF. It was a very interesting talk (well, as always with him :) )''
