Emilea and Vadym finished 1st out of 15 in the Short Dance, with a score of 79.97.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

Here is what I wrote when they were being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

The first comment actually came from Betty White, sorry, our resident video archive list compiler, @labgoat, who posted at the start of the Warm-Up:

I was tempted to say "And don't forget Cyprus", but I wanted to get stuck into writing my own post.

Just as they were starting, Polish member @Karoltyna posted:

After they finished, @SmileHappy34 commented:

@auser commented about how much they put into it:

Not-the-band @cocteautwin was predicting great thing for them:

I'm always wary of saying things like that, in case it jinxes them.

@Arriba627 was pleased:

@cocteautwin came back to gush even more:

@SmileHappy34 was disappointed with the score they got:

Looking at the Protocols, there were no issues. The GOE ranged from +1.71 for the fourth element, the Roller Lift, to +4.93 for the final element, the Choreographic Rhythm Sequence. These two elements were actually the two lowest scoring elements of the programme. Despite getting by far the highest GOE of the programme, the Choreographic Rhythm Sequence was the second lowest scoring element of the programme, because it had the lowest Base Value of the programme. The first three elements had by some distance the three highest Base Values of the programme and, hence, remained the three highest scoring elements of the programme.

All of the Judges marks were in the +2 to +4 range.

Emilea and Vadym are currently 1.31 points ahead of 2nd position, Caroline GREEN / Michael PARSONS (USA), and 5.73 points ahead of 3rd position, Oona BROWN / Gage BROWN (USA).

Although Emilea and Vadym are leading, they are not in a good position. Green / Parsons are breathing down their necks. So, they really do need to have a good Free Dance to make sure they do claim those 🥇 Gold Medals.

So, let's hope they do have a good Free Dance!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Free Dance is due to start tomorrow at 12:15:00 CST Friday (23:15:00 EST Thursday / 04:15:00 GMT Friday / 06:30:00 EET Friday). So 8 hours from now.

Emilea and Vadym will be the 15th and final partnership to start. So, fifth and final partnership to go in Group 3.

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 14:01:50 CST Friday (01:01:50 EST Friday / 06:01:50 GMT Friday / 07:01:50 EET Friday). So 9h 46m from now.

Emilea and Vadym are due to start at 14:41:15 CST Friday (01:41:15 EST Friday / 06:41:15 GMT Friday / 07:41:15 EET Friday). So 10h 26m from now.

A couple of hours after the competition finished, @slider11 did a summary post about the American Ice Dancers here:

And a couple of hours after that, @teraytan did another that revolved around Emilea and Vadym:

Looking at the Protocols, as ever, there were no issues at all.

The GOE ranged from +1.65 for the sixth element, the Curved Lift, to +3.57 for the seventh element, the Roller Lift-Stationary Lift. The latter had the highest Base Value of the programme, so it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme.

All the Judges marks were in the +2 to +5 range.

Emilea and Vadym finished the Free Dance 6.35 points ahead of 2nd position, Oona BROWN / Gage BROWN (USA), and 6.83 points ahead of 3rd position, Caroline GREEN / Michael PARSONS (USA).

Overall, Emilea and Vadym finished 8.14 points ahead of 2nd position, Green / Parsons, and 12.08 points ahead of 3rd position, the Browns.

I don't know what more I can add to what I said earlier. This is the first time that any of my kids have won a Major Champonship, and I am just so delighted for them.

I'm so proud of them!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

I really felt the romantic emotion in the 4CC performance of the free dance -- the locked gazes during the first sequence including the choreo jump, the long held look exchanged after the one-foot turns, the kiss out of the dance spin [sigh!]. Maybe the camera work was just better, but these details stood out especially well this performance.

I mentioned that I felt the romance more than before at Nationals -- and now ever more so!

They are an adorable couple on and off the ice. For those who haven't watched their recent interview with the Blades and Banter podcast, I highly recommend it. They are extremely dedicated but also a lot of fun. They tease each other a lot!

Loving all the content they put out on tiktok. I've been checking like multiple times a day, I love how excited they both are to be olympians, im so happy they made the team.
They have some of the best social media content. On instagram too! Vadym posted stories from his room, waiting for the bus and everything! They're just having the time of their lives!

^^^Just looked at and followed his Instagram. It's really fun. He explained how they are going to Bergamo to train for a few days. I love that sweatshirt she is wearing with their names spelled backwards! I want one!

Erm, I think it might be a mirror image video. :p

I don't normally bother watching videos on social media, but I was curious to see what the sweatshirt looked like...

I hope they do a run of them. Because I am sure there are other fans out there that are thinking the same as us.

Oh, I like the backwards better!!! Do they have enough luggage?! They look like they're having so much fun.

OK, random question time.

Does anybody know if Vadym has any relatives based in Latvia?

The reason I ask is that there was a Snizhana KOLESNYK (LAT) from the Kristal Ice club in Riga that skated about half an hour ago at the Silver Skate Winter Cup in Kaunas, Lithuania, finishing 4th in the Beginners 2013-2014 competition.

I did a bit of digging, and found that she is indeed from a Ukrainian family, and has a twin sister called Vlada.

It would be amazing if they were related to Vadym.

Yep, Emi has mentioned more than once in her tiktoks that her sister had the sweatshirts made, and every time she does, I want to shout at the screen "Give us a link so we can order one, too!"

They mentioned on social media a local press event they went to right before leaving for Milan, and in searching for any interviews from that, I found this piece from about ten days ago. I don't think it's been posted here:
