Evgenia Medvedeva

It passed the smell test with Zhenya. She liked it and what her former coach of 11 years wrote. Yulia too. It is what it is and it's a step in the right direction even if it's only a small step.

well it would be bad rep if she didn't. I mean on sports ru they literally put "medvedeva and lipnitskaya liked the photo" in the headline

Honestly regardless of whether or not Yulia and Zhenya liked it for just rep reasons or Eteri posted it simply just because it's Orthodox Christmas or whatever, I'm happy that it seems to be more a step in the positive direction than negative. Doesn't really make sense to make any negative drama out of it. I don't think it means everything is resolved with whatever might be going on between Eteri and them but hey, if she wants to post something non-negative, then I'm all for it.

It's just a Christmas/New Year greeting, dont read too much into it.

Is too much made of how Zhenya liked an Instagram post of her former coach Eteri? Probably. But that's mainly the Russian media craze around all these girls and women that keeps things brewing. Everybody has moved on and hopefully all of them are happy. Especially Zhenya. That's all I can say.

I don't know if this has already been posted:

It's Zhenya's performance Beautiful Mess in Bolzano.

Uuuuuu finally! It's definitely my favourite showing of this gala piece. Refined movements, completely living the music.... ahhh I just hope to see her in competitions in the next years as well, because otherwise my heart would break.

Annnnd Doug Hawe is on TSL saying she is going back to Toronto this week [emoji23]

Just to add: he said she’d be back tomorrow or Tuesday, and that she’s preparing for some “world skate-off” after Europeans. (Maybe he means WTT?)

ETA: Nope, still listening. They’re talking about competing for a Worlds spot after Euros.

I hope this is true.

Glad that she will have a chance for worlds.

If the three girls of the Russian team have a solid outing at Europeans it's going to be difficult to justify sending Zhenya to Worlds.

I hope that at least they give her the chance to go to Universade.

We just have to wait :drama:

True. If that happens I wonder what they will do with Liza.

According to TSL there will be a skate off after European.

I don’t know what that means. When I think of a “skate off” I think of everyone at one place (like the test skates) and they skate in front of the federation. Logistically that may be difficult. And I can’t imagine all of the seniors being involved in it.

I think the only possible competition that could be this "skate off" would be the Russian Final Cup

We will really have to wait for Europeans. I still think that two of the three girls of the Euros team are already set for Worlds, unless Stasya bombs completely. And there‘s also Liza. Both her and Alina medaled at GPF. It would be hard to justify sending Zhenya over them unless one of them wasn‘t fit. Otherwise they‘ve proven that they can medal at the biggest stages this season and while we all know Zhenya is capable of doing exactly this, she unfortunately but understandably didn‘t show it during the GP circuit. I still think she has much higher scoring potential than the third girl after Alina and Liza but one of them made GPF and is incredibly consistent and the other one is immensely loved by the federation and now finished as the first senior at RusNats as well. It will really depend on Euros as at the moment I can‘t see the fed sending Zhenya over any of them. Maybe if she is in top condition at this pre-Worlds competition.

All in all, I‘d honestly much rather have her at the Universiade than Worlds. This season is a rebuilding one for her and I don‘t think we should force something if it isn‘t meant to be and rather accept it. That means, if she won‘t be going to Worlds this year I will be incredibly sad but it might be for her best. The scrunity of the media at such a big event like worlds is crazy and she‘s currently in a phase of reworking everything. She needs time. That‘s why I‘d love to see her at Universiade. It‘s a good competition if lower than Worlds prestige wise. But she‘s never been there and could have a legitimate chance to get a medal there, whereas at Worlds, it would probably be difficult. I know many would say I‘m being overtly negative here but let‘s face it as it is: She simply needs more time. She‘s reworked her entire technique and while some of her jumps are clearly improved (lutz, axel) and she‘s using toe-pick now in her flip as well and gets better height, pressure often causes the new technique to not translate to competition. Which is okay. It‘s normal. She‘s showed great signs of her finally having a turning point at RusNats in the FS but overall, I don‘t think she‘s either mentally or physically ready to go to Worlds yet. I might be wrong and she could be in top condition at this local competition and be sent to Worlds and do great there but... I think it would do her more good to improve further, maybe go to competitions like Universiade or WTT and show next season what she‘s worked on. Going to Worlds without being completely ready both mentally and physically and being exposed to the intense media could potentially be harmful.

I don‘t know... if she shows to be in perfect condition in this local competition, maybe. Otherwise.. let the other girls go and give her Universiade and/or WTT and some more time to improve.

Russian Cup final would be a possibility or maybe they will come up with a new competition. I think it´s only about five seniors.

Yes but I was expecting a golden dress for TOSCA and it didn't happen.

I want to believe them, but I don't want to have many expectations.

True, Golden dress didn´t happen.
But a new SP and 2A3lo in France did happen.

Yes, but we are talking about Evgenia Medvedeva who can score very high.

And well europeans is different from world's. At world's you have the Japanese.ect., , caro, mabye kaetlyn? Against them they need girls who can score high. I am like in two pieces on one hand I know it will be a huge pressure for zhenya and I don't know if that's the thing she needs this year on the other hand I really really would love to see her at world's. If zhenya overcomes her mental thing in the competitions than the dream team would indeed be Liza, alina, zhenya. While I do like Sofia and she has been extremely consistent I just don't know if her scoring will be high enough against the other ladies at world's,

I agree, I´m in favour that she will have a chance for worlds. This is important in my opinion.
