Free Dance - The Battle of The Medalists

I read an interview with Marie-France saying that she missed an element entirely. But, we must carry on...I'd rather they make their mistakes at the GPF and save their best FD Worlds.

She didn't missed any element, but messed up the twizzle. However their highest score for this FD was around 98 at SKATE CANADA. So they have to do something with it in order to be competing for gold or even silver. And Piseev said in 1 interview that the only real rivals for Dom/S are Den/S,but not D/L-so i won't be surprise if they drop to bronze at worlds.

Excuse me, but Dubreuil/Lauzon have not been competing at Senior Worlds as long as DelSHoes. 2007 will be D/L's 8th Worlds, and DelShoes' 10th. I don't see that D/L are any more "entitled" to a podium spot than DelShoes. This season, they have certainly made as many mistakes than DelShoes, the difference is DelShoes got diinged badly for their mistakes, while D/L goes scot free.

Excuse ME, but as far as "calculating relative seniority" is concerned, I mentioned IN MY FIRST POST ABOUT THIS, that Denkova and Dubreil have been around longer by virtue of their first appearances at JUNIOR Worlds, which in both cases would have been 89/90; Deloebel & Schoenfelder didn't show up on THAT level until a few years later. And based on the rest of this, my point was obviously missed considerably so I'm just going to shut up and not even bother trying to make it anymore.

I do think Del/S will have their time eventually.

As for the Ukrainian team that was mentioned before, I do think G/G had a great, fast, and emotional FD at 2005 Worlds to get their bronze but their FD at the Olympics was completely undeserving of Top 5, let alone podium! So if the judges can warm up to that, I believe that eventually they can warm up to the technically superior and more innovative French team. They need another piece like Frida, something on the softer side. I think the musical selection this year is too robotic and hard-edge.

.

I'm beginning to have my doubts. :disapp:

Olivier has just become a Father, so his attention is probably elsewhere, understandably so.

I'm beginning to think if it hasn't happened thus far, will it ever?

Frida was an absolute classic, a masterpiece. The fact that it wasn't rewarded was heartbreaking. Let's hope their most innovative and best days are not behind them.
