Gracie Gold

That was :dance3:! The Queen has spoken: she's here to WIN and she doesn't care who knows it! :yahoo:

It really seems like she's fixing her inconsistency, at least somewhat. Three mostly-clean skates in a row-let alone early in the season-is almost unheard of from her, so that's gotta be a good sign. Maybe it's just that she loves these programs? It seems like she does. And so do I! :dance2:

I'm a Gracie fan, so I didn't mind any of her other programs, princessy or not. I'm just glad that she seems more determined to live up to her potential this season. What a disappointment though to not be able to see how she'd perform in the Free Skate at TEB. Considering she had to withdraw due to injury from the Grand Prix Final, I don't care how she gets into the Grand Prix Final, just that she does!

Edited to add: Considering she had to withdraw due to injury "last season" from the GPF . . .

Whichever wy the ISU decides, she is going to make the gpf for sure.
I wish she had a other chance to compete the long program. Hopefully she will practice the long progam like its competition.

I agree with the bolded. She said (and I paraphrase) during her interview with Tracy Wilson after the SP on NBC that she wants to be a skater where people don't get nervous when she performs. She wants them to be able to enjoy her skating.

I think that if Gracie gains some consistency, she will be an exciting skater to watch. She's got what it takes to be the next great figure skating star. She just needs to believe in herself.

The "set up" is all there for her. I'm sure SHE was the pick for Skate America, because ... Gracie. Sells. Tickets.

GS forum member Sam Skwantch has a hilarious video, calling out Gracie's "triple flip" in the SP at TEB.
Because I'm a Gracie fan, in Gracie's defence, the technical panel's word is final :)

I too am a Gracie fan. Did you see the other video I made from SA?

I tried to show highlights of her program and some of my favorite movements in addition to her jumps which were the topic of discussion. I got straight to buisiness on the TEB flip

I love these videos. Brilliant.

Gracie. If you are doing three turns into the flip, keep the edge in!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!

Hey, I'll always be nervous watching Gracie skate. I'd get so nervous watching Michelle Kwan skate and she was maybe the most consistent skater ever!

What a disappointment it must have been for Gracie (and the other skaters too of course) to not be able to skate her free program in France. Here was her chance to (hopefully!) skate a clean long program and probably get a gold medal and qualify for the GP Final. She may have ended up "winning" based on just the SP and qualifying, but I am sure it had a slightly hollow feeling to it. They always say you can't win a competition with just the short program, but in this case she actually did!

Just a rhetorical question, but I wonder if the Gracie, Julia and Roberta will actually receive medals. If they get the title, the points and the $$$, why not the medals. Althought, that would be strange to receive a medal without standing on the podium and having it be placed around one's neck.

I can't wait for the Grand Prix Final, but I am getting nervous already! I am using up a vacation day to stay home from work to see the SP's on the Friday!

Congrats to Gracie on qualifying for her second straight GPF. Last year she had to sit out due to injury, but this year she'll finally get the chance to compete against the other top ladies and show her mettle. I pray that she'll stay injury-free and hopefully win a medal.

I was wondering about it too though in light of al that happened it is probably not that important. I guess the medals were there so unless it is possible to use it for next year the medals were posted to Gracie Julia & Roberta. I remember in the old times it used to be a beautiful crystal trophy that would be harder to send in the post:)

Gracie had not received a TEB medal as of two days ago, when she answered questions on a USFS pre-GPF media conference call.

"Your guess is as good as mine," she said -- when asked whether she eventually would receive a medal for TEB.

As an aside, she candidly mentioned in a self-deprecating way that her 2015 Skate America medal got damaged because of a mishap.
Pressed for details, she explained that it is made of glass and accidentally got broken into pieces, which Gracie has glued back together to the best of her ability.

A group of young skaters at Skate America had asked for photos with Gracie, so she quickly put her stuff aside on the ground.
One of the parents taking a photo then accidentally stepped on her medal. Ooops.

Gracie gave this explanation with good cheer. She was not complaining at all.
(When a reporter asked about the possibility of a replacement Skate America medal, she sounded somewhat optimistic.)

Oh my whoops ... that poor parent ... must have felt HORRIBLE. And as always, a test of graciousness from Gracie. But still. Bummer.

Gracie, lots of luck for GPF! Hope the beautiful city of Barcelona will inspire you. Go Gracie!

Well, you can't spell "gracious" without "Grace."

And of course, best of luck to her! Go forth and land things! :cheer:
