Gracie Gold

Dear Gracie,

The patrons of GS are going to blow up if you bomb, but they are also going to blow up if you do well (us of the fan fest with happiness, of course!), so please, pull a Nationals and #ExplodeDaHaterz.

Sincerely,

Patrons of GoldenSkate

I think Gracie just NEEDS a moment. :sad4:

You can just tell in Gracie's eyes that she wants this so badly. Not to say that Evgenia, Satoko or any other skater doesn't have the desire either, but there is something special about Gracie. It really is a shame that she has this stage fright. We as fans, do not make it easy on her either. Bringing up 10 year droughts, and leaving a legacy are such heavy weights to put on the shoulders of one girl. Gracie should stop thinking about any medals, placements, or trying to get to the top of the podium....but just focus on doing a clean short program. Do a clean short, and the free is yours.

By clean short, I mean doing a beautiful triple lutz-triple toe and then CHANGING THE FLIP BACK TO THE LOOP. Honey, you can do it in the free. We cannot deny that the flip edge is better, but you need something in the short you can bank on, and Gracie has a great loop!!

Good luck Gracie! When she's on, she really is Golden.

I feel like I am alone here, but why does Gracie even do a 2A-3T....when her 2A is usually a little sketchy? Why not try a 3S-3T? She does a few great ones on youtube and during her TSL interview. It could be more reliable...and more impressive?
There's so many questions I have for Frank Carroll recently about Gracie. I know Gracie needs to fight, but I actually am look to him for some of the issues as well. I wish he would be a little more smart on the jump choices, such as putting the loop back in the short, and 3S-3T in the free. She can still do a flip in the free skate. When Gracie competes, she needs to be able to rely on jumps with good GOE, so they should play to her strengths.
No one is going to judge you Gracie for going back to the loop. Except for the judges of course. :disapp:

I just came upon this article about Gracie by Helene Elliott of the L.A. Time. It says that Frank Carroll was surprised that she wanted to skate at Four Continents!

Sorry if it's already posted somewhere else on GoldenSkate, but I didn't see it anywhere.

I'm sure this has already been discussed on this thread, but I wish she hadn't chosen to go to Four Continents. I hope it won't affect her momentum too much.

Gracie at Worlds SP

At the start of the season, I mentioned how I knew that Gracie will win Gold at Boston and how mistakes by Evgenia could play into her hands. Almost 1:1 that prediction came true and Gracie is currently leading the short in front of Anna.

It is very sad that her thread only has three or four comments about her performance, while the discussion at the Ladies SP thread, would have indicated by the harsh attacks that I got there, that millions of Gracie fans, would now support her. Sadly, this is not the case as we see here and it makes me wonder, what this young lady must do, to finally get some recognition from the people in the US of A.

Gracie, is a very present skater and she showed exactly this at Boston and the final result might have been more about her legacy than the actual skate, as two mistakes were there, the Flip with the edge and the Layback, that she only got a three for. Was her program, therefore less good, no, not for the visual eye, as at no time it influenced my judgment about her skate.

Together with Anna and also Ashley, she proved that woman can win medals at international competitions. I don´t know about you, but I like to see maturity on ice, fire and confidence and all that she had. For me, Frank and herself, should have silenced the last hater by now, it takes guts to get on the ice, knowing you can only lose in your own country.
Skating on home soil is always a big bonus, but at the same time a big thread to skaters that can get a bit tight at times and we all know how emotional that California girl can be.

The emotions were high, she sold her elements, strong posture and speed, it all looks so smooth what she does and the Lutz - Toe was lovely executed and she really grabbed the monkey by it´s eggs, last night.

I do not know what happens on Saturday, in theory she has the chance of her lifetime and she deserves that chance and only has to grab it now. With her positive appearance, the glamour and strong will - she can keep the Gold at home, I am very proud of what she and Frank did, they both deserve this medal just as much as Anna. Two of the most underrated and underappreciated athletes, have struck back. It is not the fault of Gracie, that judges or crowds do what they do, therefore I want to wish her all the best and no matter what happens, she will stay right where Adelina is, a true champion, with a very special spot in my heart.

@Alex D
I think that many of Gracie's fans are stunned right now and are waiting for the FS. It's too good to be true. ;)
She certainly gave her best SP performance of the season at Worlds!

She was fantastic yesterday! I can't wait to see Firebird tomorrow, please Gracie hold it together for one more performance!

Someone needs a hug today...,

don´t give up Gracie - life doesn't end at Boston. It just shouldn't be, still love and support you! :luv17: Ignore the haters, they are just jealous and full of chicken wings !

She's so harsh on herself:( She carries the expectations and weight of so many when she skates. It's really unfortunate and I hope she does some soul searching and comes back stronger and more positive than ever for next year!
