Ilia Malinin

Going back to Worlds press conferences, I thought he showed poise and maturity in his comments where he basically said there's more to skating than jumping. I may be reading too much into it, but to me, it seemed like he was saying he wanted to go back to the drawing board and go.over how they are putting his programs together. I wonder how he would do with Shae Lynn Bourne for choreography...Anyway, it seemed that this past month or so was a great learning experience for.him.

Isn't his free by SLB? The program looked different at WTT but his short was really outstanding especially in components. Now is a good time to regroup. He did have a good first year under enormous pressure. 3 years. Lots of good stuff is going to happen if they let him be himself.

Ilia has been added to the cast of Japan's ice show Dreams On Ice which begins June 30. Interesting that they also just added Haein Lee and Junwhan Cha too.

Oh dear.....Ilia slow down. Make time to prepare for the season and relax.

Am I the only one that's a bit concerned that he's doing all these shows? I don't want him to be injured come next season.

Ilia has been named to the cast of The Ice in Japan which runs from 7-22 to 8-4. I wouldn't worry about him being in too many shows. IMHO it is a break from spending hours and hours training on the ice. I'm sure the money that is earned is greatly appreciated, since training costs are so high. To me, The Ice is one of the best shows because it has a very young, fun vibe. This is a stellar cast! They have also just added Papadakis & Cizeron.

From Ilia's IG story:

"Hello everyone, just wanted to update you guys after last week.
In an effort to learn from my mistakes and move forward, U.S. Figure Skating has encouraged me to take a sensitivity training to help me grow and better understand the LGBQT+ community and other underserved people.
I apologize to all those affected by my comment. I hope to learn and grow from this."
