Jenny quitting?

Over at FSU, a poster has said she is quitting skating and has already withdrawn from COR. I haven't seen this reported anywhere else.

Here's the link:

Thanks for the heads-up.

The FSU people are treating the rumor as real, so maybe the poster is a reliable person in that forum.

As for myself, I tend to ignore rumors until they become official.

:(

She did this last season, too, but came back for nationals... so there's always hope! right???? tell me I'm right!

:( I'll miss watching her skate. She was such a highlight for me last season!

Well, poop. She wasn't the best skater, but was always a bright spot in the lineup and fun to watch. I'll miss her.

Sad. I can't help thinking that all the pressure of "Jenny shouldn't even be in Moscow, Kimmy should" pushed her to this decision. Also, I was very excited when she started doing pairs with Andreev - too bad we won't see her skate at all.

Yeah. Why not get back with Andreev? He's skating again.

Jenny's skating problems, for me, was control of the ice. She did all the tricks, yet each trick was going to be a hit or miss. I don't think it was nerves. It seemed to be just careless - not unlike Bobeck.

I think Pairs would give her the control she needed because her coaches couldn't.

Jenny is such a lovely figure on the ice. I hope as a coach she can pass on the posture, polish, etc. that she always presented. Best wishes to Jenny in her future endeavors.

I truly hope this decision is not driven at all by USFSA politikin' - i.e. Kimmie already has the nod for the 3rd spot unless she does a Zamboni at Nats. THAT would be sad.

I don't see big improving from her over all these years....But yes, I'd like to see her try out for pairs, her body is perfect build for pair skating, given US pairs state now, she'd find her in a better position in pairs than in single, assuming she can find a right partner......I don't think Bebe went to Frank has accelerated her decition to retire. If any I would think Frank took on Bebe because Jenny was thinking about retiring.

My Hope is that she pulls a "Tiffany Stiegler" and turns to ice dance. She is young and the battle that faces her with injuries at a young age and young guns like Messner already overtaking her.

Jenny is such a lovely skater and beautiful woman, she is another lady that I think should move toward ice dancing. I think it would suit her and allow for the lack of repetitive jumping which I think has been Jenny's problem all along.

One note...if I am the youth development director for skating and I wanted to build a arsonal of young male ice dancers, I believe I'd be trolling every hockey rink in the country asking talented young men " do you want to have your pick of girls and have a great education to boot...hey we'll even throw in age-appropriate spending money" and see what kind of response they get. They are not going to get male ice dancers just waiting for them to volunteer and show up. Just one skatefan's opinion...

This is such sad news, but I am sure this was a very difficult decision for her to make considering this is the Olympic season.

It sounds as if she is not even remotely thinking about pairs. And I believe Andreev is really focusing on singles as well.

I don't understand why people keep saying Kimmie is the next in line.?!?!?!?!

So, she landed a triple Axle...other than that, I don't think she's any better than many other skaters at the Sr. level. She may be sweet, and may have had a really great skate, but how many girls have had one really great skate and never been able to do much more after that?.......I just don't get it.

Same opinion for E.Hughes as well. I think the third spot is wide open.

Just my 2 cents.

I will miss Jenny at nationals this year because I always enjoyed her performances since her days with the Scotvolds. Her best program was the Die Fledermaus LP from the 03-04 season when she did so well at SA. That choreography showcased her dance training and was very entertaining even when she made mistakes like she did at 04 nationals.

I agree with DG that the writing is on the wall for Kimmie going to the Olympics. With Angela and Jenny out, there is no stopping the Kimmie bandwagon, and Bebe and Emily will be competing for the alternate position with Emily enjoying a strong advantage. Furthermore, if Sasha skates poorly, Kimmie could win silver at nationals, though I don't see Kwan finishing lower than 2nd at the Lovefest regardless of her performances and institution of CoP, and I don't see Kimmie winning the title regardless of any 3a3t or other rumored jump combo.

With regard to Jenny's future, I believe the statements in her press release that she will move home and attend school and do some coaching. I don't think she will tour with any show or return to eligible skating in another discipline.

That's very surprising to me. Wow.

What this does do is open up that third spot even more (she was a contender IMO). There are, IMO, two top contenders for the third spot now (Baby Hughes and 3A Meissner).

Back to topic- her decision came a bit late. She must have lost quite a bit of interest to not try to go for it, because she really had a good shot at being an Olympian. Meanwhile, Kwan, who has been competing forever now, still wants that OGM. Anyway, the best to her (Jenny) in the future.

You know what- I really think it will be Kwan, Cohen (obviously) and Meissner. Maybe Hughes, but that would be just a bit too creepy for me

Hughes is going to beat Kimmie and her fake triple axel to grab that third spot, just like she did at junior worlds.

This is all part of Jenny's plan to win the Presidency in 2012.

I don't see that happening because the Lovefest always rewards anointed ones like Kwan and Kimmie and others like Emily and Sasha get their rewards on the world stage. Unfortunately there is no way both Kimmie and Emily will go even with disasters or withdrawal from Kwan/Cohen

I think Jenny would have been a wonderful ice dancer OR pair skater. She has that quality of a Jenni Meno or Katia Gordeeva.

I'm shocked she quit, but I couldn't see her as a major contender in singles. She's just too gentle of a skater, if that makes sense. But I think translating that gentleness into pairs or dance would be an advantage.

Jenny skated brilliantly at Skate America 2003. I will miss her , but I wish her all the best! I hope she will still have the opportunity to skate in shows.
