Junhwan Cha

The FS is a disaster but it’s a disaster to the point that I love it lmaooooo. I’ve watched it again and again already and the clubbing parts make me burst out laughing every time. You do you, Junhwan.😂😂

If shouting was okay in competitions I would 100% be that one fan chanting JULIEEET at that moment.

That FS program was a hot mess...but I enjoyed it. It reminded me of Radionova’s terrible Titanic

Anyways, congrats to Junhwan for a well-earned silver! He looks ready for the season and I really hope he can make a big statement this season!

Love both programs - the FS I don’t think is meant to be taken super seriously - it’s meant to be fun and chaotic just like Baz Luhrmann’s R+J - I think the voiceovers and the odd music cuts totally fit the quirky editing of the film (like all of Baz’s films).

Which is why all the Moulin Rouge pieces (for the most part) kind of fall short because it fails to really capture that "bigger than life" aspect the actual movie shows. I think that's why Ashley's Moulin Rouge piece worked (because she's good at the OTT expression) and why V&M's FD worked when they played up the drama a lot more.

For some context, when that version of Romeo & Juliet came out it brought a boring Shakespeare story to life to a new generation of teenagers. As I said earlier, Claire Danes was the model angsty teenager we adored -- she had just played the role of Angela Chase in "My So-Called Life." The movie came out when I was 14 years old and I was in 9th grade. I love the colors of the set and the music just gave it this mood -- like "YES, Romeo and Juliet was like me." It was the teenage angsty version of R&J and teenagers like me loved it so much.

Shae-Lynn is not that much older than Claire Danes (3 years). She would have been around 20 years old at the time the movie came out and the movie likely had the same effect on her.

Again, I feel like a lot of programs that use the music try to kind of play it straight with those cuts. So while I get it seems kind of all over the place, I see Shae's vision for the piece.

I am impressed that Jun, even though he wasn't even born yet when the movie came out, has managed to understand the feel of that program. I agree with the poster who said that it was similar to Elena Radionova's Titanic program. I pretty much liked the FS because Elena sold it so well (and honestly she capture the raw, dramatic emotion of the movie. It was cheesy, but that didn't stop people from watching the movie multiple times.).

I'm not exactly impressed by either choreography. He does show off his talent in them well enough, but I don't know if they'll establish him as a contender going into the season. At least he has coaching power behind him.

I have known that he was going to skate to R&J but I didn't know it included the dreaded voiceovers, like Kostornaia's R&J. It ruined the program for me, the Romeo-goes-clubbing didn't

I think he has improved a lot, he has much stronger presence on the ice, he's such a joy to watch. More people will surely be noticing him now :)

I love his FS and am really impressed by his bold choice. It's great to see him enjoying it too.

Jun you were great.
The music remix for me was good.
He gave a different twist to r&j, Jun seems to be a good dancer.
If I remember correctly he was a child actor in South Korea?

Holy crud. What is that music cut? Who did this cut? Shae-Lynn?! This is a travesty.

Looks like there is a program that's more of a hot mess than Zagitova's.

Shae Lyn is his choreographer too? I thought David is his choreographer for this FP?

Thanks, I had no idea, so cute! In this one that auto popped up, he has a funny punchline around 1:18 when he asks “do you not have a girlfriend?” (I was happy I could actually understand that with my limited Korean LOL.)

ETA: I personally like Jun’s FS program, weird music cuts and all (and he carries it off really well). If anything, it certainly grabs peoples’ attention!

I am glad he decided to be an athlete instead of entertainer for now.
Since he is young the disciplines of an athlete will help him more.
He is so tall for a sixteen year old asian.

Korean (men and Athletes) are usually tall I think. When I watch Korean drama, male actors are usually 5'10 up.
