Kana Muramoto & Daisuke Takahashi

This is from Kana's latest ig stories and reel.

Here's the full picture (this makes me laugh at Dai's detractors, who maintain that he (still) looks like he's about to die whenever he lifts Kana  I'm glad they kept working and improving together as pro skaters and that Dai now looks comfortable even during lifts 💪):

WOW, this lift is everything :love2: Not only it looks very secure, but they both seem to be having so much fun with it. Love it!

That program is very Kana-esque and Kazuki is one of the few skaters, who gets close to how I imagine Kana herself would perform it.

Koshiro also performed his Kana choreographed exhibition ("Not a damn thing changed", which was initially meant to be showcased at Dai's "Kassouya") in Angers 🥰:

Speaking of Kassouya - besides Dai, Kana and Kanako Murakami are the first skaters to be announced for the Kassouya line-up at the "Big Wave" in Hiroshima:

The shows will take place on 8/9 March 2025. Several fans spotted Dai-chan and Kiki recruiting skaters at Western Sectionals, so it seems there will be casting changes compared to the shows in Fukuoka!

Not that numbers are everything, but this EX has the highest number of views of all GP France gala numbers, and one of the highest of the whole of the competition, across all disciplines. The combination of Kana's choreography and Kazuki's skating really struck a chord with many fans, me included 🥹

So true and count me in as watching numerous times. Great program beautifully skated by Kazuki. .

Kana-chan and Dai-chan attended JNationals as spectators! I read fan reports that Daisuke sprang to his feet for a standing ovation as soon as Nobu finished his FS 😍:

From Kana's and Kanako Murakami's (who commentated the women's competition on Fuji TV) ig stories:

And in front of the RACTAB Dome:

All Japan Championships Thank you all for your hard work! Nervousness and excitement, hot competition, watching all the categories! Skating is great!

Apparently Kanako commented on the positive influence Kassouya had on the athletes during the broadcast 😊:

(Now let's see who will complete the Kassouya cast this time.)

On December 18 Kana and Dai sent a "good luck" message to the competitors ahead of Nationals via the official "Medalists on Ice" twitter account :

They also shared their own memories of "Medalists on Ice":

Daisuke Takahashi and Kana Muramoto at the Tokyo Skytree Skating Rink! Children Lecture
2025/1/11 Sports
Figure skaters Daisuke Takahashi and Kana Muramoto made guest appearances at the ‘TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN(R) Skating Challenge’ at the Sky Arena on the 4th floor of TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN on 11 January.
Tokyo Skytree Town holds the ice skating rink ‘TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN(R) ICE SKATING PARK’ during the winter period. At the event, skating lessons and a talk show were held for primary school children, and the two were invited to be guests.
The children were taught how to skate, how to fall and how to get up from a fall. In just 30 minutes, they were all able to skate on one foot, albeit momentarily. ‘Is this really their first time?'
During the talk show that followed, Takahashi commented with a smile, ‘I was surprised at how quickly they learnt. When asked about his skating career, Takahashi replied, ‘I competed in a competition within a month of starting to skate. I did a single Salchow, but I ended up on my hips.'
When asked about the moment when he made up his mind to become a skater, Takahashi replied, ‘When I was 12 or 13 years old, I thought I had to continue skating after I joined the national team’, while Muramoto said, ‘I have an older sister and we worked hard together, so I felt like I was competing with her.'
As for his goals for this year, Takahashi says he wants to be free to ‘move around without thinking too much’, while Muramoto says, ‘I started working as a choreographer last year, so I want to dance, not just polish the basics. I think it's important for me to do various genres. As a choreographer, I find it fun and rewarding, and it helps me to grow as a person.’
To the children of the future, Takahashi said, ‘I think that finding enjoyment, not just in skating, is the key to lasting success, so if you find out whether you enjoy what you are doing or not, I think you will find a wonderful path. I want you to challenge yourself in many different things. I think that by taking on various challenges from a young age, you will find what you like.
During the commemorative photo session, Sorakara-chan, the official character of Tokyo Skytree, and Pingu, whose theme café is celebrating its 45th anniversary at Tokyo Solamachi for a limited time, also attended the event, which ended on a friendly note.

There's also footage of the skating lesson Kana-chan and Dai-chan gave at Healthpia in Kurashiki last month :

Part 2 of Kana's Mainichi interview: How does the passage of time since their retirement reflect on their journey so far? What kind of presence has Mr Takahashi become? And where is Kanadai now? In an interview with Mainichi Shimbun, she shared her current thoughts.

Final part of Kana's interview:
She told us about the different way she sees #DaisukeTakahashi at Kassouya and her thoughts on the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics coming up in a year and other junior couples who are aiming for the world.

Lovely interview, thanks for sharing the links, KiraraChin! 😊

On February 1-2, Kana and Dai were special instructors at a development/basic skating class, which was organised by the JSF at the Hiroshin Big Wave in Hiroshima where Kassouya will be held in March.

A short video report:

Article on Kyodonews (partly behind a paywall):

Machine-translation of the non-paywalled part:

Former world figure skating champion Daisuke Takahashi (38) and Kana Muramoto (31) taught about 100 beginners at the Japan Skating Federation's ‘Basic Skating Classroom’ held at Hiroshin Big Wave in Hiroshima City on 1 and 2 February. The event was so popular that the number of openings filled up in about five minutes. They performed ice dance lifts and taught the basics to the participants, conveying the fun and the appeal of figure skating.
Both are feeling a sense of crisis in terms of popularising skating, such as the decline in the skating population, the closure of rinks and the difficulty of attracting customers with ice shows. Takahashi said he hoped that even one person would become interested in skating, while Muramoto said she wanted to get in touch with everyone again to convey the appeal of skating.
The duo will perform in the ice show ‘Kassouya’ at the same rink on 8 and 9 March. Takahashi, who is in overall charge of production, said: ‘I wanted to do it in a place where not many shows are held. The sense of speed is different and more powerful when you see it live. ‘Kassouya’ doesn't have many jumps or spins, but it's an entertaining show that you can enjoy. I hope it will be a show that people can come and watch casually.

Kana-chan and Dai-chan performing "Symmetry" with reworked choreography at PIW in Tokyo yesterday - I just adore this program :

This one has different angles (their performance starts at 12:34) + the finale (Kana and Dai are "introduced" at 24:54) and footage from the meet & greet :

There are several gorgeous photos in this Mainichi photo gallery 🥰:

From Kana-chan's ig account - Kana and Dai with Marie Ogawa and Reika Matsumoto, who are both leaving the PIW ensemble 🥹:

A couple of photos + a clip of the end of Symmetry:

It was a great rocking time and I was happy to spend it with everyone. Thank you very much. 🤘🏻
Symmetry, which was the first time Kanadai did a self choreo, also became a special number throughout PIW.
‘Inside the heart of everyone there lives infinity’.
Did anyone notice the infinity symbol on the ice at the end with the steps ♾️?
And thank you so much to Marie and Reika for all your hard work 🥹🩷.
