Ladies LP - actual competition

Let's start a campaign to send Caroline and Rachael to LA! Their placements sum to 11, and just may eek out a 13 at World's (with the inconsistent Carolina possibly behind Caroline and Miki or one of the Finns ahead of Rachael). It's really possible! With Alissa instead of Caroline, not really.

I'm really happy for Caroline. Top American, skates in the exhibition. I could not ask for more.

She will cruise into Junior Worlds in Bulgaria with loads of confidence.

Perhaps Kim's spins were a little too sloppy today? That one spin traveled quite a bit, and she doesn't have good positions, especially on that sitspin.

But there have to be more downgrades than the Triple Loop.

Asada landed 2 Flips, 2 Loops and 1 Axel as Triples... And got more on TES, but less on PCS.

I'm really surprised that Yu Na didn't win the FP. She deserved her win. Beautiful skating. Yes, her spins are her weak point.

I disagree. Though there are many people who complain about it, Mao gets judged fairly. Her performance tonight obviously deserved the place it got, though she did make mistakes she did skate well. Her choreography and technical elements were extremely strong except for the few jump mistakes. Her step sequence was phenomenal.

If you watched the game and say so, I don't agree you.
There were so many girls who skated better than Asada not only Kim but also Zhang, Rochette, Phanueff.

If other skaters did like that, she was under 10.

Who do you send to worlds again? Flatt and Czisny, 7th and 9th at 4CC. Well, good luck!

Really, I admire Zhang's fighting spirit. And I really didn't think she was slower than others today (Czisny, Phaneuf, Flatt...).

USFS will be going crazy about this. I almost do think this should have been a skate-off event. If Caroline got 4th here and could become even stronger from now till Worlds, she could place top 6. A lot to think about!

I thought this was the best I've seen from Caroline. She's not the fastest out there, but I thought she looked faster than usual. I wish she would fix her jumping technique though, hopefully she works on that over the summer.

Maybe she felt like she had a small comfort zone. Oh well~ she did amazingly~!
Yuna figure queen~~ :D

If Zhang were to go to Worlds she could place top six. But of course, she won't. Pity. Highest TES here.

IMO, Alissa is the US champ. She deserves her spot at worlds. Haters need to get over it and deal.

But then again, that's just my opinion.

Wow. Congratulations, Yuna, Joannie, Mao!:rock::rock:
But why Yuna's score is that low?? It was definately not her stellar performance but still it is surprisingly low. Really need to see protocols.

Mao won the free skate. Yu-na's program, although well-skated to on the whole, she got no points for her loop and minus one deduction so of course, her scores are gonna be significantly lower than when she substituted 3L for 2A. But if she had a chance to attempt he 3L it was today since she had a nice cushion of +12. BTW, Yu-na looked REALLY disappointed at failing her 3L. She looked uncharacteristically disoriented for a tad bit more than her usual after her fall.

Caroline got better right now. At this competition. If she'd been this good all season she'd be the national champ. Peaked too late for it to matter.

I think Yu-na had some low-level spins, and also possible one or two downgrades (both 3T's looked UR'ed). She didn't have as much flow or height on her jumps today. Jumping a bit tight, like Joannie.

Well, I must disagree with you again ^--^ But I respect your opinion. There were a lot of good skates tonight~
I believe Mao deserved her place, but that's okay if you don't. In the end it's up to the judges, right? :D

You know, the scientist in me somehow loves the whole protocol thing. Finding out what went wrong, who got what for what... I am always excited for the protocols.
