I absolutely loved Laura Lepisto's program. I'm very happy she's in first! I was very surprised to see Hughes skate that well. I never liked her that much, but today was impressive. I'm sad for Joannie. When will she ever skate her best?

Messy definitely doesn't describe Yukari...her spins are always so lovely and finished off. The only remotely messy aspect of her skating is her wrap. We'll just have to wait till the protocols to see exactly what happened with Joannie's scores...I think Yukari's about right, but Joannie's TES seemed low to me.

I bet both Mao and Joannie had a jump downgraded.
the surprise is not so much that Asada is BEHIND Hughes, but by who's leading
What will be even more exciting is how the LP will totally flip the SP standings.
Hughes could possibly come out head to head against Mao, either losing to her by under a point or beating her by the same number. Same could be said about Nakano. That is if Mao comes out with a great LP, It's pretty a three way between Hughes, Asada, and Nakano at this point.
Lepisto will have to fight for a podium position by having an LP as good as Rochette's und Nakano's. She could drop down as fifth place if Rochette has a great LP.

I really enjoyed Laura Lepisto and Ashley Wagner. In general, the quality of skating was wonderful and I'm so happy the judges awarded the best performance of the night.

If Mao has a "great" long program she will blow the others away. She isnt far back at all. The others still dont have a prayer if she is back to her normal self tommorow.
Why, there could have been a downgraded jump, or another reason.. You don't know what happened yet...I don't think Laura will win this though...

Yes, a 120+ performance will pretty much ensure her win, methinks. Hughes has never been anywhere close to that number, and Lepisto doesn't have the lutz or flip yet, I think.
If Hughes actually manages to BEAT Asada, that would be the UPSET of UPSET of UPSETS.

Rochette probably got two hefty neg GOE on the flip combo and lutz, so maybe that evens out with Nakano's fall. But I LOVE her new program. She looked very graceful, classy dress also. Good start though, no major errors, no pops and within striking range of everybody really. Nice to hear she did a good triple-triple in the warm up. It's only a matter of time before we see it for real. Then maybe she will get some respect back from the judges. I don't see Lepisto hanging in there for the long program though (especially if she has no lutz or flip as someone mentioned). Not normally too impressed by Hughes, but found myself liking her despite myself. Great speed and attack and an effective program. Missed Mao due to red screen.
