Ladies SP

Erin Scherrer

Malaguena
choreo - Yuka Sato

2a good
2S - if that (landed other foot)
3T-2T fine

decent attack in skating speed, but no "fire" - choreo seems "studied" and she's no Sasha Cohen
spins slow
commentator notes good edges in SL steps

42.86 - 6th place ( i think)

Vanessa Grenier

typical piano + strings soundtrack type music

3F fall
3S-2T
2a high but no flow

above average spinner, nice layback but wobbled on a change of edge
nice "bright" presentation style

44.67 - 4th place

This is coming on regular CBC network TV at 3:00. Will this be the last ladies' groups live?

it's 2:35, ice resufacing now for final flight... I don't know CBC's plans but i don't think it will be live, probably show OD first(?)

Sounds likely that Amélie Lacoste could very well find herself in the last flight for the LP tomorrow.

I'd be interested in seeing this too. What Aerosmith song was it for those who were able to watch? A muzak version of "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" perhaps?

No, it was "Dream On"(?) IIRC... butter than muzak "Don't want to miss a thing" definitely, but wasn't exactly "rocking" either, lol. Skated by the 2nd skater up,
McKenzie Crawford

Cool! I really like that song!

Thanks again for your commentary!:love::bow:

So I guessed correctly! Though I didn't post it in time ;). Dream On is more suited to figure skating than most of their material. And an original choice of music is definitely good. Well played, McKenzie Crawford!

And thanks for the PBP, amateur.

Kathryn Kang

piano + strings...

3Lz-2t well done
3S slightly tight landing
2a little flow but fine

did a back spiral in her SP sequence, which I always like...
but commentators noted low level on the sequence

a very soft style, a *touch* tentative, but nice and graceful

46.10 - 3rd.. seems disappointed by marks

Dianne Szmiett

tinkly piano music

3F-2T - they say a planned 3-3 but entered it too tentatively i think
3Lz very good
2a good

good combo spin
presentation average
a solid performance, she should be pleased

kurt says maybe not enough footwork before the lutz

she's apparently a pre-med student! props

51.99 - 2nd

Goldenskate should have its own Internet TV-Channel. One of us is always going to the competitions, I bet there are some GoldenSkate-Canadians at Canadians. These people have to film the skates, which are streamed live on the Internet (of course on a private password-protected site - so nobody will scream "Copyright Infringement").

Thanks for the PBP. Great job!

Myriane Samson

piano + strings soundtrack type stuff..

2a hard fall
3Lz-1T (tight after Lz)
popped single Loop (or Sal)?

good attack overall (she flew into the 2a, shame about the fall),
SL steps nice and flowing.
commentators talked much about her overcoming injuries

34.79 14th place

ARGHH! sorry folks I missed Phaneuf's skate - my wireless internet connection acted up, as it is prone to do... and of course would do right during one of the performances I most wanted to see...

from brief commentators remars after commercial break:

3Lz fall
great footwork sequence
exquisite 2a

55.16 1st
