I find their RD, as it stands now, slightly over-worked. I'm curious though about what feedback they're getting from judges. At the GPF they looked a bit cautious but I would still put them ahead of C/B based on what everyone put out on the ice.

The FD still has the most natural musical phrasing out of all FDs this season. What made me worry earlier in the season was whether it had enough depth beneath the very beautiful presentation and movement quality to sustain the energy, and, ideally, to keep revealing layers as the season goes on. There was maybe a dip at Finlandia, but here I thought they struck a better balance between security/precision and expression. Shame about the freak fall, though I did find myself worrying about the skirt during certain parts of the choreography even at French Masters. It's just that, as they pointed out yesterday, this is a beautiful and beautifully lit arena with good camera work, and a clean skate would have been a mesmerizing addition to their young library of competition performances.

It feels like the judges haven't felt ready to allow them to come on top yet, given the scoring of C/B.

Very insightful comments on Laurence and Guillaume. That fall was a fluke and likely caused by the dress which should be easy to fix. I do find their technique and expression compelling and I think the judges are looking for a way to give them the top scores. Chock and Bates are just so reliable despite me personally finding them unremarkable.

The head of the IDTC is Rettstatt. Yea, that guy from Finland panel who favoured americans in BV.
Thats why C/B are getting such high goe. Judges are influenced by him.

And I think their short is not so good. They had to change the music. Depeche Mode would be a better choice.

I wonder what everyone thinks of the changes to the RD at EC? Good to see a new lift but I thought the program comes off as less musical than before. The transition into character steps felt a little weak.

And do you think they need to refine the FD more for the Olympics?

Laurence and Guillaume announced they are going to continue competing with the goal of 2030 olympics in France.
Well... my feelings are complex. I find them excellent skaters yet (for obvious reasons) it's hard for me to get invested and root fot them.
However, I am interested what programs will they create and how can they evolve with the strong basics and huge success they already had.
They will definitely be the ones to chase and beat but the youth is not sleeping, so I hope for some good rivalry.
