Mai Mihara

wishing very happy birthday to our Cindrella!!! i hope olympic season will go even better than her 1st senior season, of course without injuries and health problems, i also hope she will have no regrets no matter what/how she does :yahoo::hb::cheer:

So I was on Youtube and I noticed that Mai's winning FS from 4CC has over 200,000 views!:drama: Seeing as most skating videos are usually capped at around 100,000 (obvious exceptions are performances like Evgenia's Sailor Moon and Rika H's Blackpink), this is massive! Congratulations Mai!

(In case you need reminding of the gorgeous performance: https://youtu.be/78hjFOdUCNc)

I like the cut-out back and lack of illusion mesh, but I do wish they'd kept some purple rather than go for the cliché tango black. Here's a video of her SP in practice. The jumps look great and smooth as always, and she seems more comfortable with the choreography already :luv17: Hope all goes well for her in competition this evening!

she really looks more comfortable with the program (which was expected but still great to see!) and i really like the new dress :luv17: compared to last season she already looks like different skater, and her smile at the end shows she really enjoys skating , thats the most imortant thing :agree:
i am confused about layout and why they decided not to put 3-3 in 2nd half of the program, because she will need it

My guess is to avoid increasing the chances of an arthritis flare? I'd rather she be healthy and scoring a little less than pushing herself too far, to be honest.

maybe, but they are getting through LPs which is a lot more demanding so i was just curious, of course her health is more important :agree:

here is the video of her SP

she looks so relieved and happy after skating clean which is understandable since her main competitors from Japan skated really good during senior b competitions, i am a bit surprised by 3F getting edge call but video quality isnt that good so no point of crying over it, rest of the program was really good and her jumps are as smooth as ever (even the 3Fe ), also her PCS is almost 32 at Canada is pretty good , wishing all the best to her for LP! gonna be hard for her to catch up to Kaetlyn with 9 points difference but you never know :yahoo::hap57:
btw, after looking at pictures, i really love the details on her dress and the back of it, i think its better than the one she wore during ice show  #1 , #2, why ponytail though :palmf:

Reviewing my own direct capture of the live stream, frame by frame - that edge violation call looks bogus to me.

She did go onto outside edge on approach, but then back onto inside edge for take off. It looked like a clear and correct inside edge when she actually stuck her toe-pick in and took off. I wouldn't even call it "unclear edge".

Tech panel might have had a bad camera angle or somesuch this time, but if there are similar shenanigans in the FS too, it's going to look mighty suspicious:

Technical Controller Ms. Cynthia BENSON CAN
Technical Specialist Mr. Troy GOLDSTEIN USA
Assistant Technical Specialist Mr. Ricardo OLAVARRIETA MEX
