Major VCR Alert (Ice Wars)

ITA Joe;
Though Brian did extremely well with his prop. I was so impressed with how he put the coatrack on its edge and the rack was swinging back and forth to the music (I'm surprised it didn't fall over) plus BB was actively working the coatrack into his footwork and elements unlike Kurt who spent a lot of time with his head in the toybox.

I don't really like the 3 triple jump requirement for the tech program. Why do they even have this requirement? It's not as if this event is sanctioned by the ISU. I don't like this rule b.c it eliminates a lot of skaters from competing such as Katarina Witt. I liked Bobek's program (even though her swinging arms remind me of Svetlana Khorkina) and found it considerably more enjoyable than Yuka's triple jumps and no choreography in "Naughty Girl". With the lack of skating on TV, this pro competition is the only way to see some of these skaters. I do wish they would invite Rory Flack Burghardt. She is so fantastic and a great example of a skater who made her reputation solely through professional competitions. She was amazing in the Landover events through the years. I'd like to see more opportunities for different pro skaters to shine other than the Olympic medalists.

Is it me or has Boitano has gotten a bit, er, heavy? He couldn't even get off the ground on his tano lutz, and was smart to double it in the 2nd skate.

Brian had surgery on his right knee in early August. As of November, when Ice Wars was taped, he hadn't gotten all the strength back in his legs. That's why he was struggling with the 'Tano. He's definitely not overweight.

I thought Kurt's programs were cute, although I would love to see him do
some classical pieces of music.
Looking forward to seeing his serious side again.
His jumps just make me melt, the way they just come from no where....
right out of footwork, no build up at all half way across the ice.
Gotta :love: him!

Loved Kristi, she could go back to the eligible ranks and beat any of the ladies out there today.

Hey Rose,

As you suspected, I did miss the Kristi show where Kurt did a number to Time in a Bottle. Too bad, I used to love Jim Croce back in the day.

Singalto, thanks for the info about Brian B. Considering he had surgery so recently, I now feel his performance was pretty good!

I saw Boitano close up at a reception and was surprised to see how thin he is. He looks much bigger on the ice.

Kurt Browning was terrific! I thought his "Dad" program was absolutely hilarious! Boitano was super fantastic too though. I would have given these two a tie. These guys are great skaters and entertainers! :agree: :rock: :p ;) :yes: :rock:
