Medvedeva leaving Eteri

With the $$ she’s made from winning I don’t think she needs them too.

With that in mind, I hope RusFed doesn’t turn against her if she leaves.

Well, that’s my biggest fear. She has all the support from the Fed right now, I don’t know how they’d feel with her departure.

I'm not sure - is Evgenia moving to Orser just a rumor?

Would he take on two new ladies skaters?
Just a rumour at this point.

I absolutely think Orser would take her. She’s already one of the absolute best in the world, all the more prestige for his operation. Now, whether the Russian Fed would countenance/pay for her to train abroad is the more pertinent question.

RusFed is dumb if they stop supporting her just for training abroad.

She's TRAINING abroad (possibly, according to rumors), not skating for another country.

I don't know anything about RusFed budget - would they be willing to spend a lot more to have Evgenia train in Canada?

She'd be silly to goto Canada, her PCS will drop like a thud.. just watch... and these things have nothing to do with her skating.

If I recall correctly Nikita Katsalapov had to put a lot of his own money for him and Victoria Sinitsina to train with Marina Zoueva for a few years.

Second one being... Wakaba Higuchi? Why not? They are good friends, great competition in the club which is quite familiar for Evghenia from her Eteri experience.

I definitely see Evgenia and Wakaba (I'm not sure if this is true or rumor either) being great training mates.

I thought Orser said he was taking 2 new students (total?) - and I'm not sure if he's taking on another new mens skater

Why does every time a coach change comes up, it automatically means they move to Brian Orser? There are other coaches in this World, you know. Arguably she's leaving the most prestigious Ladies' coach of the decade, so moving up from that is hard, but Brian Orser is not the solution to everyone's coaching needs.

wouldn't it be a shocker if she did move to Canada with Orser. Certain people will implode and eat crow....oh my...Just imagine Medvedeva training on Canadian soil.....they won’t accept it..😂

I certainly hope that after she has accomplished, Evgenia can afford to pay her way. (Then again, I have no idea how much of her earnings and sponsorship money has gone to RusFed instead of to Evgenia, so idk.)

RusFed limits their skaters potential if they refuse to support them training abroad. It's more expensive, but surely someone of Evgenia's stature has "paid her dues" and deserves this.

if The rus fed will keep supporting her,
they have to do same for other girls too

Who for example? Russian fans spend years dreaming of any of gifted boys and girls leave to train abroad- no one goes, way too expensive, quite hard to expect Federation to cover the expenses given they have a very tight budget also quite hard to find a sponsor. I guess Evghenia is willing to spend her prize money she got after OG, quite smart decision, a risky one but it may pay off. Leaving abroad means new choreographers and a coach who knows how to work with a young woman not just teenagers. I'd say good luck to her if it's true and if she has enough courage to take such a risky step in her career.

I bet that she would be treated like a human being and have freedom that she never though possible. 🙂

I'm mainly confused about why she would want to leave. Evgenia has been benefitting from a huge PCS boost just because she is from Eteri group. She is not a second-rate skater there, and her relationship with Eteri looks the warmest I've ever seen from Eteri.

... although I guess if she wants to improve as a skater, good for her. I hope she knows that the current PCS and GOE she's been getting is not due to her actual blade-to-ice skills or jumping technique. But if anything, I admire her strong iron will - the girl is practically fearless, and she's fun too. I wish her all the best

I'd genuine applaud her if she does decide to take the leap... I love Wakaba and these 2 with Hanyu and JunHwan... would make the cricket club the prettiest and awesomest rink in the world to skate in

Zhenia is a big name in the lady field. If she moves to another coach she couldn’t choose a coach with weaker political support than Eteri and Russian fed. Logically either CSKA or... well Orser.

I had to check the date today to make sure this wasn't April 1st lol. Anyway, I wish the best for Evgenia - I really enjoy her skating and hope the change (wherever she ends up) will be a positive one for her.

I would like to pass around smelling salts to all the Eteri ubers that have been screaming at me for days now.

Ahem.

Good luck Zhenya! Smart, smart move.
