somebody wondered why eteri's getting flak when TAT, who's supposedly been even more rude in the past, isn't... seriously?
TAT LOVES her students. not just one of them (at the expense of all the other ones who are, of course, lazy, spoiled, unmotivated etc). her mao and her johnny and her lyosha (yagudin) and the rest of them to boot. hell, she loves other people's students, too. she won't stop fawning over chock and bates (i mean... chock and bates? but whatever, people have different tastes) and radionova and shoma etc. she loves skating, you know.
sure she can be a bit of a nag. she IS biased, and there are those she can't but hate on a little bit (anna and luca, satoko), but she was never a conveyor belt coach and her students were never mere 'material' to be turned into profit, i mean, product, i mean medals and the resulting riches, fame and admiration from rusfed. TAT was always ambitious but she's proven that you don't need to throw away your humanity while being so.
i'm sure TAT's students have been yelled at. more times than they can count. she's 'russian tough' (what eteri pretends to be but isn't). i'm sure they hated it. i'm sure most of them don't hate her as a person, though, because she hasn't had countless mud-slinging-interviews published - the kind of interviews that consist solely of bashing, insulting and shading her students when they have lost their careers to injuries, when they are at their most vulnerable, when they don't expect it because they have trusted her with said vulnerabilities.
eteri throws injured/anorexic minors she's been entrusted with to the vultures. TAT's fiercely protective and wouldn't do that - she's got some warmth underneath all the bluntness, after all.
wherever medvedeva is going, she's going to a better place than eteri's rink ever was. that much is clear.
