Medvedeva leaving Eteri

So in other words, you're saying that there's no reason to even show up and skate; we should just award the gold medal to Russia right now.
No, that is not at all what I said. Realistically, if Evgenia were operating on the assumption that she couldn't even make the top three in Russia in 2022, then she would not have much of a shot at being top 3 worldwide, because there are countries other than Russia that also have a lot of talent.

Rumours are getting wild LOL.

Next thing you know, Hanyu himself has retired and will now coach Medvedeva at TCC

That's also why I have my doubts regarding Canada. Yes, currently they're doing great. But when Osmond and Daleman retire or decline significantly... what then? They have nothing in JGP, nothing in seniors(Their #3 didn't even qualify for FS). At that point, they'd want their next big talent to be able to become a senior as early as possible(There was a very young girl if I recall correctly? 8?). Having a greater pool of potential skaters to choose from should as a general rule benefit every single fed.

Really... Until it's actually a proposed, I don't think it's a very relevant thing to discuss. I really hope they don't increase the age limit further(They can lower it for all I care, though).

The young girl your thinking of is Reese rose she's nine very talented for her age :)

the latest rumor she is going to retire and start competing in curling, sources say Medvedeva thinks it will be easier path to win OGM 2022.

The last rumor is she will switch to Daniil and he will give her a warhorse 🤔 Al least, that's what some posters expect.

:laugh2:

P.S. my bet is on retiring

Heck, how about - Medvedeva will train with Lipnitskaya and Ilinykh! No rink, she'll just travel to wherever they're offering their classes.

Medvedeva is going to Raf. I mean, everyone and their mother is at this point. Orser who?

Thanks, it's her who I was thinking about. When did she turn 9?

And yeahh the rumors are... becoming a bit tired at this point. I guess people really are just trying to kill time while waiting for some official announcements. I hope that Medvedeva makes the correct choice for herself.

Unless the Federation imposes a gag order, which is probably the best option in this entire mess.
They will want to make this seem like an amicable split so they won't bother Zhenya and they'll let her go, and we'll get the usual PR blah blah blah about how she's grateful, she's exploring new things, etc and they both keep their mouths shut after that. Well, at least that is probably what they want, it's the best solution for them and there are benefits for all three sides so I will be really surprised if it escalates, at least now. Later, who knows but it won't matter so much then.

I doubt that, the Fed let Eteri and Averbukh drag Lipnitskaia through the mud and she was the darling of their home Olympics.

Quick summary on what goes on at TCC:

- Evgenia might go there (reliable sources have said yes, but still waiting for official confirmation)

- TSL started tweeting that Wakaba will be coached by Brian (a few weeks prior they interviewed Doug Haw who's friends with Brian Orser, so they have inside sources. On the other hand, I don't consider Doug a reliable source in up-to date topics, as seen on his takes about Hanyu's future (absolutely wrong and unrealistic), so maybe he just meant, that Wakaba will be there during the summer, as her current coach has connections to TCC. Personally, I think Wakaba's skating style is perfect for TCC and Shae-Lynn and would be quite disappointed if she didn't go ..

- Boyang might train under Brian. An interview with HongBo Zhao confirmed, that they are trying to arrange something for Boyang. Whatever the arrangement, his current coach will go with him to TCC, as they are very close and know each other since
Boyang was a child. Personally, I hope it's long-term with both Brian and Boyangs current coach coaching him at TCC. Polishing needs time. Short-term doesn't make any sense. And I like the idea of his current coach going with him as it would't tear Boyang into a completely new environment. Also, if he gets injured under Brian or doesn't improve as much, fans can't blame Brian 100%.

- Conrad Orzel changed coaches to Brian.

Note that Conrad is likely going to be paired with Lee Barkell (Primary coach of Gabby, secondary coach of Stephen G) and maybe someone else as a secondary. Since he's so tall now (6 ft and he's only 17), it's not impossible he could be making a switch to pairs or ice dance, since there are a few couples training there, but I've not seen any signs that he's been paired up, so I think staying in singles with a coaching and rink change is what happened. But no formal confirmation of anything yet.

Brian's charges to the end of this season:

Stephen Gogolev (Brian and Lee Barkell, B listed first on SC site)
Shingo Nishiyama (Shingo mentions Brian and Tracy as his coaches in the interview on Absolute Skating from this Feb)
Junhwan Cha (Brian)
Yuzuru Hanyu (Brian and Tracy)
Javier Fernandex (Brian and Tracy)
Elizabet Tursynbaeva (Brian)
Gabrielle Daleman (Lee and Brian)

Brian had 6 full-time skaters for whom he was the primary coach (alone or listed first). So what about next season? We have one likely part-timer (Javi) who may start later to prep for the Europeans and maybe 1 or 2 B-level competitions beforehand. Boyang may join for a summer camp or some other type of short-term arrangement, probably scheduled around Javi's needs, since Brian's loyalty has always been to his current skaters.

Friend and colleague of Brian, Doug Haw, said Brian wants to keep to 4-6 skaters (I assume as primary or sole coach) back in Feb just after Oly. Of course, Doug could be wrong. For example, he didn't for example know when the show was recorded that Yuzuru was far from interested in retiring. With Javi scaling back (and possibly retiring fully next year) and a new quad starting maybe Brian is experimenting by stretching his number to 7, with Evgenia (or Wakaba?) added to his roster. And by experiment, that means at least a year and a half commitment from him and the skater, per his own statements about his coaching ideals. With that in mind, perhaps Wakaba (or Evgenia) might be added this year, or W might appear at the CC next year if Javi retires fully (I've head she's graduating next year?), but that would also strike me as Brian seeing if he can handle his current load plus one. No one else of his current students has signalled that they are leaving him and Brian is loyal to his charges. He consults them before bringing in a new person in their discipline (like he did for Javi when Yuzuru was a candidate), so any new senior lady would first have to pass Brian and his team and get the thumbs up from the other senior ladies (Gabby and Elizabet). Yuzuru's team may only have been consulted because Evgenia is a popular star in regards to whether he was comfortable with increased media and fan attention on the CC inhabitants.

If anyone is bored by this ... Eteri was on television and it has started.

She's going after Zhenya but I'll leave that to native speakers to translate, to avoid any possible confusions. Oh this is so not going to be pretty.

Wow!!! What did she say? I hoped the separation will be peaceful and classy :(.

I am seriously disappointed but what can you do. I am super reluctant because I am not a native speaker so if someone wants to jump in it would be way better.

I honestly have no words. Don't know why I expected Eteri to be better than that, but she's basically declared war on Evgenia.
