Mens Free Skate

So agree with you and Evans arm waving. Can not understand why so many think he is artistic. Could not understand why last years FS was rated as such a great program. He was not in time to the music but he had great energy.

I'm tellin' ya, it's all that wavy arms stuff. Gets a high PCS, for wild arms. Sry, I just can't stand fake artistry. Like many of the girls now are gasping with open mouths, so they look like they are sooo into it.

totally agree with you,....
anyways gotta go now (work), it's a bittersweet feelin all off this.......

Not to sound too overly mean but what does Evan get to call himself now? One and a half-time National champion??

But congratulations to both of them!

LMAO!!! chorus: Not that I'm making fun of Evan or anything...

According to some sources now, Johnny actually got the higher program scores this time round. His technical score was lower though, because of a couple of two-foots (though who two-footed what is still being debated and will likely remain unclear until the broadcast and maybe still after that). So it seems someone came to their sense, and hopefully that trend will continue.
Seriously, all questions of who should have won aside, they're going to be talking about this one for years. Evan should be thankful; he's won his immortality. (Johnny's immortality already, of course)

well even though Evan won, I'm sure it doesn't feel the same to win because of the rule book than to win in actual competition. However, congrats to him.

Every competition is won by the rule books. You could justify anyone winning any competition if it weren't for the rules. Evan won according to the rulesthat were in place fair and square.

It looks to me that Johnny two footed his quad; Evan rotated his, and made it a combo. Could the judges be correlating higher tech and higher PCS?

Seriously, it looks like both guys had killer footwork sequences.

I for one am glad Evan won and I cant wait to watch it!! Great skating makes for a fun night of watching it.

I think Evan had the edge because he used an original selection of music called "Tosca".. It's only been used a few times... LOL

Pretty Much Appalled

I am pretty much appalled by Johnny Weir's on camera comments and the complete lack of class exhibited when he and Evan were interviewed, by both of them. If I could score them down for unsportsman like behavior, especially Weir, I would.

If you're talking about that quickie interview NBC showed, then, I disagree. They both looked uncomfortable and Johnny did not say anything other than what he's already said. What is so classless about answering a few trite questions?

How could Evan win this thing with all those shaky landings? He had to fight almost EVERY jump, it's so distracting.

April

Apparently you missed the prior interview when Johhny said openly that he doesn't like Evan. He then went on to make completely inappropriate comments about his roommates, which I won't go into. Obviously, you missed it. As for their behavior on the couch, it's graceless and does nothing to enhance the image of the sport. If you can't see that, there isn't anything else I can say to you about it.

Hmmm. I guess I have to wait it out & see the interview myself. I don't think it is necessarily wrong to state that you do not like someone, but I think if it's done in a malicious manner or for vindictive reasons then I might lose respect for that person.

gosh. I'm not a big fan of Johnny's skating, but this judging was awful. He deserved the win. He had two minor wobbles on the landings. Evan was very shaky on almost all jumps, very distracting.

:bow::bow:

Bad, bad judging.

All I have to say is "I never expected to see a result like that in skating again" and "So that's how they decide situations like this under CoP!"

Congratulations to the new US men's champion! Now that's what I call a close victory!
