Nathan Chen

Anyone finds it hilarious that Shae Lynn decided to make Nathan wear that particular piece of clothing? At this stage I’m utterly convinced that Nathan will wear whatever is handed to him. What I don’t understand is how women around him (Mom, Vera, Shae) keep coming up with contestable choices 🤣

Did he really change his layout right now?? 4lz+3T, 4T now? This makes me too nervous. Combo in the second half worried me too much, but you aren't supposed to randomly do a 4lz3T instead... :eek2:

Don't worry, Nathan has alway treated filling out his planned program content as a suggestion. All of his practices have been with a 4Lz and then a 4F-3T so far, so this is his most likely layout.

That to say, he could change his mind on the day, you never know...

Hate the Axel... also can someone explain to me why it's suddenly such a problem again, now that's back with Raf full-time? 🤨

Okay, is it bad that I'm glad he messed up? This is exactly the situation I want to see Nathan to be in, having to fight to come back to win. Being always on top can make him a little complacent, and I feel like being in third today will fire him up for the free.

Also, I was super impressed with how after he messed up, he focused and made sure that 3A was spotlessly clean.

I know that Nathan knows how to keep his lead, but fighting for first out of a deficit will be exciting.

I'm shocked he fell on the 4lz. When was the last time he even fell? He's not out of it completely honestly though. Great job with the 3a and 4F3T though.
He was so slow and sluggish even before the entry, much worse than Nationals. I am curious if angry Nathan will show up in the FS.

I am a Nathan stan but some part of me was curious too if a situation like this would fire him up for the free. But the pessimistic side remembers that a fired up Nathan was also what I was hoping for after the team SP at the Olympics.

It's odd that Hanyu goes clean now that he's training away from his coaches whereas Nathan went the other way. But maybe it's because you focus on the things you can do when you're on yr own but try more ambitious content when the coach is around. Oh well, better here than the Olympics. And he will need a huge tech advantage to make sure his fate is in his own hands (and not the judges).
