Ladies: Evgenia Medvedeva, Elena Radionova, Anna Pogorilaya.

Ice Dance: Bobrova/Soloviev, Sinitsina/Katsalapov, Stepanova/Bukin.

So happy for Mikhail and Alexander! Nice to see the future of the Russian men represented here.

Proud of Anna for making the team when everyone was counting her out. Hope she can deliver at Euros!

So weird not seeing I/Z on the list...since S/K struggled last year, and I/Z struggled this year, maybe next year both teams will be great and we'll get the Elena v. Nikita rivalry we fans deserve.
 
It's nice to see that after all they respected the Nationals' results!

Based on what we've seen this week, the correct choices.

Based on what we've seen this season, pretty close as well. The only change you could make looking at the whole season is to put one of the Junior Ladies (Sotskova or Tsurskaya) in instead of Anna Pogo. But, I wouldn't, because:

  • they can go to Junior Worlds instead;
  • I like Anna Pogo!

Definitely. We don't want to see a repeat of the controversy over the choices of American Ladies to go to Sochi. Or, even worse, the situation we had in 2002 when NISA refused to send the British Ladies Champion to Worlds, and ended up sending nobody.

(No prizes for guessing whose Fan Fest I have been writing an update for this week... ;) )

Happy to see Petrov on the team, hopefully he and Kolyada ( :love: ) will do well at Euro's and give Kovtun some fight for the Russian Number 1.

And congrats to Anna! I think I didn't even say that before, but her skating at nats made me so happy, and I'm glad we'll see her again this season! Hopefully she can skate similar to MO and Nats at Euros and Worlds too.

Sad for no I/Z, but I guess it is what it is. And that pairs team sure looks downright ridiculous :jaw: (I mean, we knew that before, but still, seeing those names lined up as the official team for the first time...)
 
Shame about Tarasova/Morozov! I wanted them to go so bad. But maybe it's for the best, they already have quad twist, but they need to work on SBS jumps. Without stable jumps it will be incredibly hard to fight for a spot in National team. DO YOUR JOB, guys! Your time will come.

As for Ilinykh/Zhiganshin vs Stepanova/Bukin, I don't know. I'm a little bit sad that Elena and Ruslan's season is over, but on the other hand I CAN understand the Federation in this case. Stepanova/Bukin are stable, they are reliable. Yes, technically they're not top team where basic skating is concerned.
And without Ruslena, the Beavers will be skating in last warm-up group. Maybe it somehow influenced The Fed's decision too. Honestly, I'm sick and tired of them skating too early, so maybe at Euros their GOEs and PCS will not be as reserved. I think the Fed would be only happy to push Bobrova under Sinitsina, but Bobrova/Soloviev did not allow that with their skating.

Do your job, guys. It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead.

Edit: And I think it's obvious that the Worlds team will be Bobrova/Soloviev and Sinitsina/Katsalapov. Even if one of the teams will mess up at Euros, I don't see them sending Stepanova/Bukin to bring their spots back.

Ooh, that is an interesting point about starting order, Snow. Yes, I think that would be a consideration. If you are in the last group, you do have the advantage of being considered a bit more with equally valid scoring potential.
 
I don't think the results in Nats must be the reason for the selection to Worlds or Euros, more like take the whole season into account. Based on what we've seen in Nats this is the correct choice; based on what we've seen this season, really close as well. The only change looking at the whole season would be to put one of the Junior Ladies instead of Pogorilaya, but I'm relly happy she's been the selected one :agree:
 
As I have my ticket to Bratislava I'm still sad a bit I won't see I/Z's FD and Julia, but I think I agree with this decision.
There is probably no doubt about ladies. All of them skated two clean programs and it is quite sure these three girls will medal at the EC, maybe not in the same order but I don't really see anyone who could beat them. For men it is always question how Max will skate, he is not so consistent, but he is national champion so no doubt here as well. It will be interesting to see Mikhail and Alexander Petrov how they will skate. Mikhail is super consistent this year, Sasha is pretty consistent too, but he doesn't have a quad. But maybe when he is clean and others will try quads they won't land, then it could be a good results for him. It is also a question how they will award points for PCS. Both Mikhail and Sasha didn't competed at this level.
For pairs, I absolutely expected they will choose S/K. They were great during GP (even if I don't like them too much). V/T and K/S were clear choices. I'm just afraid the judges will prefer V/T over other two pairs V/T are the Olympic champions and they are considered as a No. 1 of Russian team. And even they will make a couple of mistakes, they will let them win, just because their titles and names. We already saw it at Euro 2014, when they had fall (or two falls, I don't remember now) and S/K skated clean FP.
As I said, I wanted to see Lena and Nikita at the Euro, but they made a big mistake in SD, which probably costed them their spot. Hopefully we will see them at the next year's Europeans and Worlds...Despite this, I look forward to see B/S's FD.
 
Happily surprised to see Petrov there with the other guys - and really happy for Kolyada. The ladies and pairs are not a surprise, but I'm excited to see how the other teams in the pair competition are going to compete against the russians, especialy S/M. The girls are probably on the podium, although, there's always Pogo. Enough said.

The dance teams are not a surprise, but it's good for B/S to not send I/Z to Euros so they can go right to the last group. And let's see how it goes.
