Official Russian Nat teams for 2016 Euros

Anna has somehow always pulled though these past few years in such an insanely deep field, really happy for her, must be a huge relief after what happened at NHK

I wonder though, if she does badly at Euros if they'll give her Worlds spot to another lady, they have so many strong ladies ready to take her place, absolutely terrifying

^^^ This.

My feeling is if Anna does well at Euros, she should get the nod for Worlds over Liza or Yulia (much as I love and cheer for both of them).

On a related note, I am glad for Yulia that she was named as an alternate for Euros. I know it isn't the spot in which she ultimately wants to be, but it is another step in the right direction. Last season, she wasn't even part of the conversation.

I am happy that the move to Urmanov appears to be a good one (and hope that continues to be the case), and she has already improved and, most importantly, seems happier.

What the hell? I'm sorry, I love Adelina to death but why is she the second alt? Girl can barely survive a short , let alone a free.

I am super happy for Mika, Sasha and Anna :hap10:

And very very sad for I/Z... I hope they'll have some more chances to compete for the rest of the season. Their FD cannot end here. It will be a masterpiece if they have more time and chances to show them!

The thing is, Mika is adding 4S and Sasha 4T at the Euros. I'm half terrified and half excited about this :dbana:

Agree, but the way I see it, her bronze medal at Nationals and spot on the European team are huge accomplishments in and of themselves, so while I hope she skates well at Euros and gets to compete at Worlds, her season is not a wash if that does not happen. Getting to compete at one major championship event is better than competing at none at all. Plus, the ranking points from only one of Euros or Worlds will count towards her WS anyways. She was so good at Nationals, I'm hoping she has more confidence now and can put out her best at Europeans! She should be confident heading into this event, if she skates like she did at Nationals she'd most likely be looking at a bronze medal and a very strong score, possibly even a silver medal. One step at a time.

Also, I'm not convinced Tuk will definitely get sent to Worlds. It's possible she'll go, but not a sure thing IMO. I think if Anna delivers and medals at Euros they will probably keep her on the World team. I know, maybe it's wishful thinking, but the Russian field is so strong that I don't think any ladies get special treatment, even if you're an OGM or World Champion.

Who would have thought that among the deepest field of Russia skating stars and all the next big thing Anna will be the one who keep making the team. Good jumping technique is really important.

I am really glad for her.

It's amazing how Anna keeps marching on and making the team despite competing in deepest field in the world and being written off. She really earned it

I still think she was robbed at Worlds in 2014! Unfortunately unless there's a miracle in store for her I think that was the closest she will ever get to a World podium.

I'll just leave it here: https://www.change.org/p/оттавио-чи...-леонтьевич-даёшь-ильиных-жиганшина-на-европу

I can understand everything, but this is SO OVER THE TOP, that I can't even formulate my thoughts on this. Mess, hot mess. :dbana::dbana::dbana:

P.S. English version of the petition is at the bottom of the page. :slink:

Sounds like sour grapes to me... although I am sad to see IZ not be on the podium, the only team I would trade them with is SB. SK had a twizzle mistake and were appropriately deducted. They were going to be first and ended second...and third in the FD... end of story...

These people need a reality check...

They look like fools doing that

They should be glad the Russian fed. probably will never see it because if they did it would probably do more damage to I/Z then good. Their the last fed. who like to be pressured or told what to do

It's just, I don't know, if the Shibs fans started a petition after every competition they skated at. And the most of all, the text of the petition in Russian is so... lame! I can't even explain. Zero argumentation, zero references to ACTUAL rules, only 'it's known for a fact that Stepanova is worse skater than Elena', 'everyone knows that Frida is so good that it should receive 10s for interpretation'... I'm not saying the scores were correct, far from it actually, after I've looked into protocols, but this is just lame. I hope Elena and Ruslan will never read it, at least the full version of it.

This is really starting to remind me of the V/M vs. D/W wars of yore. It was one endless headache and it went on for years. :disapp: Don't they realize that this is not a good look and that they're not doing I/Z any favours with it?

It's a bit like the hordes of insane V/M fans who insist that absolutely ANY indication of ANYTHING about new programs, etc. means they're coming back...:eeking:

BTW, a lot of V/M fans have the exact opposite attitude -- i.e., we do not engage in speculation and we do not condone jumping to premature conclusions that they are returning to competition.

ETA, I have not seen much evidence on GS of the other type of V/M fan. Such posts pop up once in a while. But not from "hordes." I guess the hordes are elsewhere.

Yes, I completely understand. But, because the Ruslena fans who started this petition are obviously the extreme, it reminded me of another extreme of a group of fans. I am sorry if it came off as a snipe at all V/M fans and I will remove the post to prevent future conflict.

What are you insinuating again? :roll5: I recommend you that if your post could cause conflicts or sounds problematic in future, do not post it in public.

This is funny, because this past Ice Dance competition at Nationals was probably the first in a long time that left me satisfied, since I feared that I/Z as reigning champions would be overscored despite having mediocre programs (judges during the GP already indicated that), and I was surprised when they weren't and when the other three couples (who clearly skated better than them) received the medals. And now this

Ahem, not every Ruslena fan is crazy.

I just wanted to add that I haven`t seen Elena or Ruslan acknowledging this petition on any social media (twitter, instagram etc.), so they either aren`t aware of it or do not approve.

For me this result was very frustrating, the PCS given to SB were  especially the Skating Skills score. But there is nothing IZ or this petition can do about it. The Russian Fed has made its decision, SB are going to Euros and not IZ. In the past when a team didn`t get the score they deserved, the best way to deal with it was to work, work and work. IZ are fighters, regardless what happened this season, they showed that they make a good team and can be successful together. My hope as their fan is, that they take their time to regroup and come up with a better strategy for next season.

So, regarding the rest of the team, I`m very happy seeing Anna Pogorilaya and Kavaguti/Smirnov on the team. I`ve seen K/S`s LP live in Barcelona and I just loved it!.
