Pairs - Free Program

look like they did improve ther sbs spins. But they should get rid of that 2axel3toe combo. It's too dificult and very difficult to keep in sync.

I heard that they were pretty consistant with that jump combo. They even completed it after the shock of the Olympics fall. I guess it was the jet lag and lack of training this year.

Now I really feel sorry for Marcoux and Buntin...I really don't like these non-scoring events..even limited to one per competitor, it's sad to see spoilers coming into play..especially when that spoiler might already have "lucked out" and faced an easy field in their previous scored assignment.

I don't remember...do they still get the money..that would be another sore point.(Remember the year that Michelle Quan grabbed everything in sight?.. and with devastating results in the way the competition shaped up?)

Yes, I think Inoue and Baldwin get the second place money. Since they don't get any Grand Prix points, that's all they get.

About Michelle Kwan, if you are talking about the Grand Prix (and it's forerunner, the Championship Series) then I would have to say, no, I don't remember any year in which Michelle skated in more than two GP events or skewed the results in any way.

2005. Kwan did not participate in the Grand Prix. U.S. ladies were Czisney, Meissner, Hughes and Liang.

2004. Kwan did not participate in the Grand Prix. U.S. ladies were Nikodinov, Czisney, Corwin and Cohen.

2003. Kwan did not participate in the Grand Prix. U.S. ladies were Cohen, Kirk, Corwin and McDonough

2002. Kwan did not intend to participate, but she was called in as a last minute replacement for Sarah Hughes at Skate America. This was her only GP event. Other U.S. ladies were Kirk, McDonough and Cohen.

2001. Kwan did Skate America and Skate Canada.

2000. Kwan did Skate America and Skate Canada.

1999. Kwan did Skate America and Skate Canada.

1998. Kwan did not participate in the Grand Prix.

1997. Kwan did Skate America and Skate Canada.

1996. Kwan did Skate America and Trophee Lalique.

1995. Kwan did Skate America.

1994. Kwan did Skate America and Trophee de France.

1993. Kwan did Skate America (finished 7th, LOL).

I guess Michelle has won so many championships over the years that it just seems liike she was in every Grand Prix event. :)

It's not fair to have non scoring points. Forget the money. I don't look at skating for their salaries.

Marcoux and Buntin and all the other teams may need those points to get into the GPF.

I know, I know, it's the rules for Pairs (only) but it's not exactly my idea of fairness. If they can't fill up the teams for the Pairs events, them don't fill them up. Why should they?

I agree, Joe. And it's even worse than that, because some events do and others don't have top teams seeded in for a non-scoring event. So you are at a disadvantage if you happen to be scheduled for the wrong event.

Marcoux and Buntin are doing 3 events. With the costs of skating, I'm sure the pairs are happy to be able to do 3 events for the extra money.
