Pairs' Short Program

I laughed because of the score.

S/S went for the throw 3A. She took a hard fall and it seemed to affect them for a couple of elements (crashy twist, flawed SBS triples) but I'd still have them in first by a few points. I hope the throw wasn't ur/dg.

Kirsten Moore-Towers & Dylan Moscovitch CAN
Borsalino by Claude Bolling
little jump lifts to start
back shoot the duck into 3tw; chest crashy; landed on his shoulder
3ts very good
little hope into triple loop throw ok she landed a little low
he's in a lunge and pushes up into the lift. huge strength move there. lots of changes.
spiral entry to death spiral, good speed in it
dancy footwork; a little disjointed somehow; its caused by COP considerations
pair spin to end; troubles with it in the beginning. it drifted

32.20 27.4 total 59.60 into 3rd

Maylin Hausche & Daniel Wende GER
Music by John Miles
mushrooms on her shoulder?
pseudo pair spin to start
jumps into 3tw
right into 3s landing a bit off
3t's she falls
dancy footwork with holds. dance lift in middle
if pairs are going to dance f/w, I wish they would take dance
jump entry into their real pair spin, cool
press to lift sort of lame dismount somehow
death spiral change of hand on the guy.
dance lift to end
48.94 one point deduction

Vera Bazarova & Yuri Larionov RUS
Tosca by Giacomo Puccini arranged by Maxime Rodriguez
3t's and he fell
nice triple twist, good height & catch
throw flip a little stiff on the landing
death spiral exited peculiarly into pair spin; clever
interesting entry & exit into the lift=you have to see it
footwork
to end
This could be good, but is somehow not soup yet IMO
Right now it looks a combo of stiff & busy. early in the season
32.42 28.20 -1 Total 59.62 into tie for 3rd

Aliona Savchenko & Robin Szolkowy GER
Angels and Demons (soundtrack) by Hans Zimmer
Aliona mimes sleeping, Robin mimes looming demon
throw triple axel and she splats. looks like it was rotated.
spread eagles into triple twist not perfect
3ts Aliona 2 footed the landing a bit?
lift reverses into dance lift exit
great strength and transitions shown
interesting spin with unique shapes in it
death spiral with hand change
footwork-a little slow compared to their normal blazing speed because of the complexity they're doing
to end

j29.48 30.97 -1 59.45 into 5th.

59.45 in FIFTH?!?!?! Wow, S/S won't even be in the second group for LP.

It'll be interesting with 2nd-5th basically less than 0.2 points apart.

Note: B/L are in third because the tiebreak in the SP is the TES, which D/C won.

The throw 3A must have been downgraded.

I see the Z/Z, D/C beating S/S, but how the heck did B/L beat Aliona and robin, am i missing something?!?!?!?!:eek:

I'm not too worried. S/S will get back in the LP.

I think it M-T/M., D/C and B/L will fight for bronze.

WOW!! Quite the short program competition. I never thought S/S would be in fifth.

Really, I admire that S/S went for it. They clearly were challenging themselves. And I think the fact that they still were in the same score range of pairs that had much cleaner programs, totally shows how amazing they are.

And the fact that a lot of us thought that they'd still be in first despite the problems is testament to their ability!

Aliona and Robin were rough. That awful fall on the throw did not set a good tone. They'll go from 5th to 1st with little problems if they skate more like they normally do in the LP.

Despite the mistakes, I'm glad B/L got a nice score. They were the one actually elegant pair, and I'm glad the judges still reward that. She still looks anorexic, but what can you do.
