I was watching on HD TV and didn't see that.
You missed it. Here is the video.
edit: You can see the wardrobe malfunction on/off again for the last 70 seconds of their SD, which is a considerable length of time, don't ya think?

Ohhhh boy, so agree with this!! I have fielded soooo many questions this season about “why those girls have such thin straps, aren’t they worried?”, “her strap is gone! One slipped off halfway!! Why did she choose that dress?” and so on.
I couldn’t come up with anything other than the theory that too much “flesh-mesh” would inhibit movement and perhaps isn’t as necessary for dance due to the lack of jumping & throwing.
After a “was that a nipple??” (no, for the record, it was just a crystal pattern) today, I was on the verge of googling what the deal is with their costumes.
Wasn't it her responsibility to take care of her own dress? She should blame only herself.
I understand that their coach actually sewed the collar-piece shut before they went onto the ice. Their initial moves just had enough force to snap the stitches. In other words, they did everything they could to prevent from it happening and it happened anyway, and they still gave a good solid performance after it did. Nobody is 'to blame'; it was just the kind of bad luck you can't prevent for trying.
Since a costume is essential equipment why didn’t Gabby stop the ska and ask judges to let them fix her dress? I don’t understand how that happened.
What area the rules regarding costume malfunctions? Gee that ruined the Sd for P/c.![]()
I hope this doesn't turn into some sort of "nipplegate" a la Janet Jackson in the Super Bowl. I feel sorry for Gabby actually - imagine exposing yourself inadvertently in front of a large crowd and on TV. In Canada, CBC showed it in SLOW MOTION on the repeat - I thought it was in poor taste to do that.
I too was also wondering why they didn't just put mesh on the sides to help keep it in place.
Prior to entering the ice for the warmup, the female coach with them in the Kiss and Cry was trying to repair it. Check out the NBC coverage.
It was really bad. Her nipple was showing several times during the program, I think already from the second step sequence. I was looking at their feet during the live skate and only saw it afterwards in the slow motion at the end. Went to rewatch after the event just to see their skating, but then noticed it was showing in the step sequence. I stopped watching, felt bad for the poor girl.I just watched the video of their SD and I really felt for Gabi to skate with that issue for over two minutes. Wishing them the best for the FD.
Nothing amateur about it, these things happen. Figure skating costumes are not made of steel.Sounds very amateur! "Repair" a dress during warmup?!
They had a slight wobble in their lift and desynchronized the second part of the twizzles but it was very good otherwise. My favourite of the season for them. I think they skater bigger than before. I can't be the only one who thought the program was still great? I mean almost nobody noticed in the rink.
Right now, I think the blame for the malfunction is much less important than the fact that they were able to stay focused to skate as well as they did. They could have had a real meltdown. Instead, they kept going and gave a solid performance.
I think the blame is more important, because such an exceedingly rare event has now happened twice in these games, and we have to make sure this isn't a systemic issue.

I am very saddened by the complete lack of understanding and simpathy towards Gabriella, who not only had her chances of a gold medal diminished by this accident but had to withstand the embarassement of being exposed to the whole world.
As if that is her fault, really. What the heck people. - Just take a look at some of the headlines about the "nipslip!" and all of that and imagine being in her position. Why would you even blame her for something like that! It must be mortifying enough.
