Patrick Chan

No ... go take a walk. I just came back from one myself in an attempt to clear my mind.

You know, you really have to hand it to all these athletes who get out there and do it in spite of their nerves. That's why I hate it when people criticize them when they don't do well. Just my personal pet peeve.

where i live... it's actually quieter to lie on my couch.... ER of a big hospital is nearby... do not fear for my health ;) i actually am going thursday morning, i guess a few hours after the short, for some physio.... haha

Only if they live stream this Worlds Mens event. Else you'd be better off self medicating with a bottle of wine.

.... with a gin martini....

cbc will do live streaming i think... but i think that i would miss too much of it with half the programs being in the afternoon... so I will probably just end up watching the CBC reports... it's plenty of skating in any case.... and i am guessing that since Patrick is supposed to skate quite late, they will be doing it live ;) on tv.... (recording it for posterity.

Sending my well wishes, love, happiness and joy to Patrick, wishing him the best of luck and skates well at the World Championships in Boston.

Vivley, Do you know you have exceeded your stored quota in your PM box?

Thanks, Happylife! I fixed that problem now. :)

This Japanese fan had a report on Patrick but I couldn't quite get a good translation. I think they said he looked depressed as he repeated things with Kathy? And in the end he did smile?

Aw... Now it feels warm and fuzzy in here... And we already know that the end of his FS will look like this:

But first, he must skate his SP tonight, and I look forward to that.

Patrick, it doesn't matter what the outcome of Worlds 2016 is - I will still be on your side!!

Interesting icenetwork article about Patrick with a few more juicy tidbits. I'm assuming that the writer, Lynn Rutherford, must have gone to dinner with Patrick and Kathy:

Wicked good notes: Chan focuses on strengths

Didn't know that Kathy is a Bostonian:
Johnson ... was born and raised in Nahant, Massachusetts, an island community just a 35-minute drive outside of Boston. Her mother still owns a waterfront home there, which Johnson visits every summer and Chan has also frequented.

"Kathy knows all of the Boston spots," Chan said. "It's exciting to have her family, who I've spent time with in the past, here watching. It's kind of like competing at home, in a way.

Patrick is focusing on his strengths:

"I have other advantages, though, that I'm going to focus on. I have my own demons and my own challenges with the two quads and the two triple axels now."

Working on the 4S:

"He got back from Four Continents and got back on the ice and did the quad salchow off of his triple axel pattern, so that will be something we definitely look at," Johnson said. "I think it's important his axel has gotten so good this year, so the second triple axel is there. It will be a matter of running numbers and program layout for next year, where he wants to add the quad salchow and at what point in the season."

See? No retirement!

Patrick has his own agenda and his decision about continuing or not will be based on his own criteria. About the 4CC, he said, ".....when I was fifth after the short program and I was competing against the two Chinese boys (Jin and Han Yan), one doing quad lutz, and they both skated clean in the long. I went out and did what I had to do, and I accomplished my goal in that event: to land my first second triple axel in a program." Winning was a bonus. His goal was to skate the new choreography cleanly, with 2 3A.

Be your own self and the greatest skater that you are, Patrick. Put everything aside and be one with the ice, the music, and the program and be extremely happy when you finish your program. We will be extremely happy along with you.

Nope! Could you please point out where is his image on the CBC Sports wall, thanks.

You have to right-click on the image and open it up in a new window or tab, then it will show the entire image.

He's at a slanted angle at the very bottom of the image, behind the desk and TV screen.

So nervous for Patrick.

:console:

Gandhi said, "Become the change you wish to see." And the sage formerly known as Guru SF says, "You can't be poor enough to help the poor, sick enough to help the sick, or nervous enough to calm the nervous."

Be relaxed, focused, confident, and detached from outcomes like you'd like Patrick to be. How can you send him love, positive energy and good vibe if you are in a nervous worried state? You're rehearsing negative future scenarios which don't exist. Stay in the moment, like we wish Patrick to do, or rehearse the best case scenario instead, with joy and confidence to spare so you can send some to Patrick.

Take a deep breath and hum with me. Ohmmmmmmmmm.......
